Seit ungefähr zehn Jahren gibt es ein Filter-System auf Internet Service Provider (ISP)-Ebene.

UK-basierte Internet-Provider filtern von sich aus bereits viele Webseiten, darunter auch Dating-Seiten, aber auch Online-Gambling und Piracy-Seiten.

Splinterlands wird übrigens nicht gefiltert. Ist wahrscheinlich noch zu klein und unbekannt dafür.

Es gibt aber die Möglichkeit mittels opt-out den Filter zu deaktivieren.

Bei Three UK geht das über die Website three.co.uk, wenn man sich mit seinem Account einloggt, unter Plan, dann hinunterscrollen zu Adult Content. Dort kann man mit einer Kreditkarte den Filter deaktivieren.

Seit Juli 2025 müssen auch Webseiten mit einschlägigen Inhalten zusätzlich zum Content-Filter der Provider noch eine Age/ID-Verifikation durchführen, ähnlich wie es auch die EU eingeführt hat.

Kritiker sehen darin das Schaffen eines Zensurmechanismus im Internet und das Ende der Anonymität. Auch könnten die Filter relativ einfach umgangen werden.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Habt ihr in UK den ISP-Filter deaktiviert? Findet ihr überwiegen die Vorteile von so einem Filter (Jugendschutz) oder die Nachteile (KYC, Overblocking, Zensurgefahr zum Beispiel Ausweitung der Filter auf Piracy und politische Inhalte)?

In the UK, there are two mechanisms in place to protect teenagers from the negative effects of pornography: content filters and age/ID verification on websites.

A filter system has been in place at the Internet service provider (ISP) level for about ten years.

UK-based Internet providers are required to filter many websites on their own, including dating sites, online gambling sites, and piracy sites.

Splinterlands is currently not blocked, by the way. It is probably still too small and unknown for that.

However, it is possible to deactivate the filter by opting out.

With Three UK, this can be done via the website three.co.uk. Log in with your account, go to Plan, then scroll down to Adult Content. There you can deactivate the filter with a credit card.

Since July 2025, websites with dangerous content must also perform age/ID verification in addition to the provider's content filter, similar to what the EU has introduced for porn sites.

Critics see this as the creation of a censorship mechanism on the internet and the end of anonymity. The filters could also be circumvented relatively easily critics say.
