How to get a UK prepaid (pay as you go) data-only SIM from Three UK

Habe mir diesmal das erste Mal eine UK eSIM gekauft, da die Roaming-Gebühren mit einer EU SIM extrem teuer sind.

Um eine UK pay as you go eSIM von Three UK zu erwerben, muss man zwei Voraussetzungen erfüllen.

Erstens braucht man eine Kreditkarte und zweitens eine Adresse in UK.

Anders als in Österreich (EU) muss man aber zumindest bei einer Prepaid-SIM keinen Ausweis hochladen und man wurde auch nicht zur Nationalität befragt, was mich überrascht hat.

Als Adresse habe ich mein Hotel in London angegeben, was zum Glück akzeptiert worden ist.

Habe mir eine data-only SIM um nur 10 Pfund gekauft, mit dem man einen Monat lang 40 GB bekommt, was ein extrem guter Preis ist.

Allerdings hatte ich Probleme die eSIM zu aktivieren, da ich zunächst den falschen Code eingegeben habe.

Habe noch nie eine eSIM aktiviert und habe blöderweise statt dem Confirmation-Code zuerst versucht, den Activation-Code einzugeben.

Wenn man den Code drei Mal falsch eingibt, wird die eSIM gesperrt. Danach konnte ich nur noch den KI-betriebenen Support erreichen und blöderweise meine SIM nicht verifizieren, da ich sie ja nicht aktivieren konnte. Shit.

Musste mir dann noch eine eSIM kaufen, was dann zum Glück geklappt hat. Hätte vorher die Anleitung lesen sollen.

Wenn man den QR-Code für die eSIM scannt, braucht man den Activation Code nicht, sondern man muss dann eine PIN (den Confirmation Code) eingeben, den man in einer zweiten E-Mail teilweise mit einem zeitlichen Abstand zugeschickt bekommt. Wieder etwas gelernt.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Habt ihr schon mal eine eSIM aktiviert? Interessant, dass man in UK keinen Ausweis für die SIM benötigt hat.

This time, I bought a UK eSIM for the first time, as roaming charges with an SIM from the EU are extremely expensive.

I then had to buy another eSIM, which fortunately worked. I should have read the instructions beforehand.

When you scan the QR code for the eSIM, you don't need the activation code, but you have to enter a PIN (the confirmation code), which is sent to you in a second email, sometimes after a delay. Learned something new again.
