Ingredients
š 1 medium Banana, sliced into rounds
š¬ 1/2 cup Sugar
š§ 1/2 cup Water
š« Dark, dry ingredients like dried cherries or cacao nibs, about 1/4 saucepan
āļø 18-20g Coffee beans, freshly ground
āļø Ice cubes, enough to fill a tall glass
š„¤ 1 bottle Fever-Tree Premium Tonic Water
Instructions
1- Prepare Banana Syrup:
- Slice the banana into rounds and combine with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan.
- Heat the mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon, until the banana softens and the mixture thickens.
- Strain the mixture through a mesh sieve into a mixing bowl, pressing solids to extract all liquid.
- Pour the syrup into a swing-top bottle.
2- Prepare Dark Flavored Syrup:
- In a clean saucepan, combine the dark ingredients, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water.
- Heat while whisking until a rich, dark brown syrup forms.
3- Prepare Espresso:
- Grind the coffee beans using the Varia VS3 grinder.
- Load the ground coffee into the espresso portafilter with a dosing funnel.
- Use a WDT tool to distribute grounds, tamp them down with a coffee tamper.
- Preheat the Flair Espresso Maker's brew head, proceed with espresso extraction into a carafe.
4- Assemble the Drink:
- Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
- Add a layer of banana syrup over the ice.
- Pour tonic water over the syrup, filling almost to the top.
- Gently add the espresso shot over the tonic water.
- Drizzle the dark-flavored syrup over the espresso.
- Stir gently with a metal straw to combine flavors.
