Books, Bites, and Back Home: A City Trip That Didn't Go as Planned 😁

Have you ever dressed up, went all the way to the city, only to end up... going back home after a full meal and an empty wallet from book shopping? 😁
Today was supposed to be a productive day.. Supposed to be...
Our daughter had a scheduled group project meet-up in the city, and as supportive parents (with no choice 😅), we tagged along. But of course, before anything else — bookstore muna!
We knew the drill. The moment our feet touched mall floor tiles, she pulled us straight to her happy place: the bookstore. It doesn’t matter if we’re running late, tired, or hungry — when you have a young bookworm in the family, buying a new book isn’t an option. It’s a destiny..

She scoured the shelves like she was on a treasure hunt, squatting, standing, turning books sideways like a detective reading clues. We followed her around, pretending we weren’t already thinking about where to eat. 😅

While she was busy deciding between classic tragedies and some contemporary heartbreak novels (yes, same energy), we admired how passionate she was. There's something so calming about being surrounded by books... until your knees start complaining from all the standing 😆
Then came the reward: the food court 😍
We marched toward it like we’d just survived a war,, tired, broke (books aren’t cheap, y’all), and starving...
The yellow rice, savory pork sisig bits, chicken glazed with honey, and that glowing green cucumber lemonade drink felt like a celebration...

After all, nothing says “family bonding” like sharing fried calories and laughing over who eats the most.
But just as we were sipping the last drop of our neon-green juice 😆, our daughter got a message — “Meeting postponed.” 😛
We looked at each other 👀
Laughed 🤣
Paused 😗
Then just... left the mall and went home 😁
No errands...
No group project...
Just a bookstore trip and a heavy lunch 😂
Relatable much? 😜
That feeling of preparing for a full day of plans and ending up doing only one thing... yeah, that’s the kind of chaos we live for.. But you know what? No regrets. Books were bought, tummies were filled, and memories were made.
So next time your plans change out of nowhere,, treat yourself to a bookstore stroll and a hot plate of good food.. It might just be the kind of detour you didn’t know you needed.
