New Signing - SM 25

Intro

Hey hiver and game lovers, welcome on board to the @southgamer blog where we talk about gaming and anything gaming-related. It's nice to have you on board and if you are new to my blog but if aren't, you will know in the past I have gotten into playing soccer manager games.

Today during lunch break, I gave SM 25 another shot by signing my first player. A new thing I wanted to explore is what it would take to sign a new player and how long it would take.

Big names rejected my offer

Obviously, I went for the big names in football I know about. I tried searching for Messi and Neymar as they used to be my favorite when I used to play PES and FIFA. Sadly, Inter Miami and Al Hilal refused my offers. So I went for the next option, Mbappe, and that was a no as well. I guess the spending cap of 50 million dollars was the reason, as the guys' clubs were demanding more.

An alternative

So I had to get creative as a signing must work and I want to know what the process will look like.
I began to look for low players with some promising player ratings, they could be older or younger or playing for some unknown club as long as their market value wasn't above 10 million dollars.

After a random input of the name Victor, a bunch of players came up starting with Victor Osimhem, a player for Galatasaray, and many more. Then I landed on Victor Edvardsen from Sweden. A 28-year-old striker looking for some playing time in a big club like Chelsea.

I made a 5 million dollar offer for the player which was two times the player's value. At this point, I didn't care anymore, I just wanted to sign the player and see what the player would do in my squad. I like to see this signing as something compared to the one Manchester United made for Ighalo way back in 2020.

Welcome to Stamford Edvardsen

Edvardsen's arrival immediately brought questions about his spot in the team, will he be added to the first team or kept on the reserve team? For starters, I moved him to the first as I wanted to see if I would be getting my money's worth for the player.

His first appearance happened against Lazio in a preseason competition where he made a couple of attempts for a goal but only one was close enough. Fair enough he ended the match with a 7.0 out of 10 performance which was more than fair, given that this was his first match. I guess he's still trying to settle in with the team. The match with Lazio ended in a 1 - 1 draw, as Cole Palmer was the only Chelsea player on the score sheet.

Another player to know their stand

His spot on the team wasn't the only thing in question, Chalobah also used the opportunity to ask about his stand, whether he would be offered a new contract or not. Obviously, I gave him a new one with a wage of $49,800 weekly pay, given that he's a good defender for the team and I just completed the negotiations for Badiashile to Crystal Palace for 33 million dollars.

On Badiashile, I got the initial offer from Napoli but their offer for 29.5 million was quite small for the player, as the player's market value is 23.5. I had to make at least a 10 million dollar profit, that way I recover back my money spent on Edvardsen and with profit as well. So I up the bid and only Crystal Palace came back with a sweet offer that grabbed my interest.

My business mindset will have me driving this club into profit but will I be able to do so and win trophies as well? Well, for now, I don't know about that yet, but I plan to finish in the top 5 at the end of the English Premier League as I believe this will increase my budget in the next transfer window.
