Hello travelers! Our adventure in Falcón State was coming to an end, and we couldn't leave Vela de Coro without first visiting part of its historic district, which took us directly to the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Temple, one of the last destinations of this short but thoroughly enjoyable two-day trip through this part of the country.ENGLISH VERSION (click here!)
The heart of La Vela de Coro struck me as a quiet, welcoming, and rather small place. Although it was Sunday, we couldn't see anyone around us, just the occasional car passing by. The Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church was located at the end of a street at the back of a small square, like an architectural gem, small but striking and of great value to the parishioners.
Its external structure stands out for its vibrant yellow color that captivates from afar, white details that delimit the body of its entire structure, a tall tower, which has a small dome that can go unnoticed, a clock that stopped at 6:41, and a bell tower characteristic of ancient temples inside.
Its design and details seemed similar to many temples in the region, with tiled roofs and only two wooden doors, one at the entrance and another on the side. Above the main door were some inscriptions such as JHS, which stands for the name of Jesus, and a period marked from 1851 to 1951. although the nine was missing, I suppose it refers to the beginning and end of its construction or something similar.
I would have loved to visit the inside and learn about every detail that brings it to life. It is said that every July 16th they celebrate their patron saint, the Virgin of Carmen, so it is surely full of festivities and people on that day. This church has been a National Historic Monument for more than 65 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 30 years, making it a fundamental part of the history and culture not only of La Vela de Coro, in the state of Falcón in Venezuela, but of the whole world.
A simple church that has stood the test of time and keeps an entire town full of faith and devotion. I am happy to have been able to visit it and share it with you. My journey for today has come to an end. See you soon!

¡Hola viajeros! Nuestra aventura en el estado Falcón, estaba llegando a su fin y no podíamos irnos de la Vela de Coro, sin antes visitar parte de su Casco Histórico que nos llevó directamente hasta el Templo Nuestra Señora del Carmen, uno de los últimos destinos de este corto pero bien disfrutado viaje de dos completos por esta zona del país.
El corazón de la Vela de Coro me pareció un lugar tranquilo, acogedor y bastante pequeño, aunque era domingo, no pudimos ver personas a nuestro alrededor, alguno que otro carro pasando por allí, la Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen se encontraba al final de una calle en el fondo de una pequeña plaza, como una joya arquitectónica, pequeña, pero llamativa y de gran valor para los feligreses.
Su estructura externa destaca por su vibrante color amarillo que cautiva desde lo lejos, detalles en blanco que se encuentran delimitando el cuerpo de toda su estructura, una torre alta, que en su cúpula lleva una pequeña que puede pasar desapercibida, un reloj que se detuvo marcando las 6:41 y que además aguarda en su interior un campanario característico de los templos antiguos.
Su diseño y detalles se me hicieron similares a la de muchos templos en la región, con techos de tejas y solo contaba con dos puertas de madera, una en la entrada y otra lateral, sobre la principal se encontraban algunos escritos como JHS que significa en el nombre de Jesús, y un período marcado de un siglo 1851-1951, aunque el nueve se encontraba caído, supongo que hace referencia al inicio y final de su construcción o algo similar.
Me habría encantado visitarla por dentro y conocer cada detalle que da vida a su interior, se dice que celebran cada 16 de Julio a su patrona la Virgen del Carmen, así que seguramente ese día se encuentra llena de fiesta y mucha gente, esta iglesia forma parte de los Monumentos Históricos Nacionales desde hace mas de 65 años y Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO desde hace 30 años, lo que la hace una pieza fundamental de la historia y cultura no solo de La Vela de Coro, en el estado Falcón en Venezuela, sino de todo el mundo.
Una iglesia sencilla pero que preserva en el tiempo y que mantiene lleno de fe y devoción a todo un pueblo, que dicha poder visitarla y compartir con ustedes, mi recorrido por hoy ha llegado a su fin. ¡Hasta pronto!
