Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're all well. Have you ever really missed your childhood food? Where did your mother make it? Some time ago, I was missing my childhood food. This food was always present on big days, like Eid al-Fitr.

But, because I'm an orphan, I couldn't ask my mother to make this dish. Even on Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr, I felt sad. Not being able to find this food at home was a real shame. So, recently, I made it with whatever ingredients I had. I made sambal goreng kentang (fried potatoes with chili sauce).

When my mother cooked this, she usually added beef or chicken liver. Since I was making it with whatever ingredients I had, I didn't add beef or chicken liver. So, how did I make this dish?

How to make:

  1. Fry the nuggets first until slightly dry. Then set aside.
  2. Fry the potatoes until slightly crispy, then set aside.
  3. Once the fries and nuggets are cooked, add a little cooking oil to another pan, then add the chili paste. Sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the chili sauce and stir until evenly distributed. Add salt and sugar to taste. Stir until evenly distributed.
  5. Then, add a little coconut milk. I didn't add water, just pure coconut milk.
  6. Add the fried potatoes and nuggets. Stir until the spices are evenly distributed. Turn off the pan. I used an electric skillet.
  7. The fried potato chili sauce is ready to serve. It goes well with chicken opor.

It seems to have somewhat cured my longing for my mother's home-cooked meals. That's all I can say, what do you think? See you in another story.
