A few days ago, I had the privilege of visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá, a place steeped in history and spirituality, along with my dear daughter Daniela. Her family and her mother-in-law, who is enjoying some time in our beautiful city, also joined us. It was a perfect opportunity to strengthen our family bonds and share moments of reflection and devotion.
The visit coincided with the week of the Solemnity of the Divine Child, a celebration I was unable to attend on January 6th. However, fate granted us the opportunity to worship the Divine Child in an atmosphere filled with love and faith. The image, beautifully decorated and surrounded by balloons, invited us to renew our hope and gratitude.
The basilica, still adorned with Christmas decorations, reminded us of the magic of Christmas, a time of unity and spiritual renewal. After the Eucharist, we watched as, little by little, the decorations were taken down, marking the end of a season filled with light and joy.
One of the most moving moments was seeing the images of our new Saint, José Gregorio Hernández. His life and legacy inspire us to be better people, to serve others with humility and love. Furthermore, the Nativity scene in the central aisle transported us to Bethlehem, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas.
