What I Cook in Under 5 Minutes When I’m Hungry at Night

I really like this week’s Midnight Community prompt: What’s the fastest meal you can make when hunger hits you at midnight?

The author mentioned Indomie, and honestly, that’s true. Noodles are always the fastest rescue meal. Four to five minutes, and you’re already eating. But for me, I have another midnight lifesaver that takes about the same amount of time.
I can’t count how many nights this meal has saved me. Anytime hunger catches me and there’s nothing else at home, I go straight for bread and egg. I’m lucky because we have chickens in the compound, so getting an egg is never a problem.
Once hunger sets in, I head to the kitchen, pour a little groundnut oil into the frying pan, and let it heat up. I break my egg, mix it, and pour it in. In less than three minutes, the egg is ready. I like my bread slightly burnt, so after frying the egg, I put it inside the bread and place the whole thing back in the pan to toast both sides.
Just like that, my midnight meal is ready.
If I’m lucky and there’s a cold drink in the fridge, that night is already perfect. The movie I’m watching suddenly becomes sweeter. But the funny part is the sleep that comes after. You can’t expect me to eat a full bread and egg combo at midnight and still stay awake impossible. I always end up lying down and dozing off. That shows our satisfaction is my meal at midnight.
Bread and egg are honestly one of the fastest midnight meals anyone can make.
Thanks for reading my entry.
