Who has never had a period of gym addiction in their life? I currently understand how positive it is to dedicate some time in the gym, 3 to 5 days a week. Aerobic and strength exercises are important in many age ranges, including my own. I start losing muscle mass and also need to keep my vascular system healthy. But as with everything, when you are too addicted or over exaggerating, it is bad for you. Nowadays, when I go to the gym it is easy to see people over exaggerating in their focus on how beautiful they will be or how strong.

One of these days in the gym, I was doing some exercise on a machine for my breast muscles. And then one guy stopped by and asked why I was putting so low a weight? I needed to add more on that. I don't want to prove to myself that I can lift 100 kg like many men who go to the gym to make their muscles bigger like the Hulk. The weight was enough to provide some resistance to make my muscles gain something. I had other types of gym experiences.

When I was in the University I started to be friends of a person that in the end I noticed that I it was toxic for me, I will take this moment to advertise the hangout of Hive Learners next Monday that we will bring toxic relationships to the discussion table. That friend somehow helped me to be more social during that time, since I was always that nerdy guy who preferred to stay home playing video games, watching anime and listening to metal (or punk, depending of the age). He forced me to go out and do more things that I wasn't used to doing. One of the things was going to the gym with the purpose of getting more muscles.

The culture of getting muscles and using more weight made me injure my shoulder a bit. Until nowadays if I need to force myself, should I feel a bit of pain because of the misuse of gym machinery during my 20s. Another thing that I noticed in some gym friends was the usage of products. I was studying biology, and I was totally afraid of taking hormones to help grow muscles, but still, I tried some supplements like Whey Protein and Creatine, which didn't have the power of hormones but they would help. However, after a while taking creatinine, I saw some abnormalities in my blood exams, so I stopped, and that immediately reversed the problem. But still,l it is crazy how guys still exaggerate in hormones that can cause vascular problems and even cancer.

I didn't go too much into trying to get the perfect body, but even the little that I stepped into, I got a shoulder problem and temporary abnormal blood exams. Now imagine those who go totally with their head into that? I think nowadays I got the perfect balance in getting healthy, that's my only concern. I don't care if people will see me as more beautiful or uglier. I just want to control my weight and my muscle mass. And if someone asks me for tips that is what I would recommend. There is no such thing as a perfect body for me; I don't care if my partner has cellulite or a Miss Universe belly.

Quem nunca teve um período de vício em academia na vida? Atualmente, entendo como é positivo dedicar um tempo à academia, de 3 a 5 dias por semana. Exercícios aeróbicos e de força são importantes em muitas faixas etárias, inclusive na minha. Começo a perder massa muscular e também preciso manter meu sistema vascular saudável. Mas, como em tudo, quando você é viciado demais ou exagera, faz mal. Hoje em dia, quando vou à academia, é fácil ver pessoas exagerando no foco em como serão bonitas ou fortes.

Um dia desses, na academia, eu estava fazendo exercícios para os músculos do peito em uma máquina. E então um cara apareceu e perguntou por que eu estava colocando um peso tão baixo. Eu precisava aumentar. Não quero provar a mim mesmo que consigo levantar 100 kg como muitos homens que vão à academia para aumentar os músculos como o Hulk. O peso foi suficiente para fornecer alguma resistência e fazer meus músculos ganharem alguma coisa. Tive outros tipos de experiências na academia.

Quando eu estava na universidade, comecei a fazer amizade com uma pessoa que, no final, percebi que era tóxica para mim. Aproveito este momento para anunciar o encontro do Hive Learners na próxima segunda-feira, em que abordaremos relacionamentos tóxicos. Esse amigo, de alguma forma, me ajudou a ser mais sociável durante esse período, já que eu sempre fui aquele cara nerd que preferia ficar em casa jogando videogame, assistindo animes e ouvindo metal (ou punk, dependendo da idade). Ele me forçou a sair e fazer mais coisas que eu não estava acostumado a fazer. Uma delas foi ir à academia com o objetivo de ganhar mais músculos.

A cultura de ganhar músculos e usar mais peso me fez machucar um pouco o ombro. Até hoje, se eu precisar me forçar, devo sentir um pouco de dor por causa do mau uso dos aparelhos de academia quando tinha 20 e poucos anos. Outra coisa que notei em alguns amigos da academia foi o uso de produtos. Eu estava estudando biologia e tinha muito medo de tomar hormônios para ajudar a ganhar músculos, mas mesmo assim, experimentei alguns suplementos como Whey Protein e Creatina, que não tinham o poder dos hormônios, mas ajudavam. No entanto, depois de um tempo tomando creatinina, notei algumas anormalidades nos meus exames de sangue, então parei, e isso imediatamente reverteu o problema. Mas ainda assim, é uma loucura como os homens ainda exageram nos hormônios, o que pode causar problemas vasculares e até câncer.

Eu não me esforcei muito para conseguir o corpo perfeito, mas mesmo com o pouco que fiz, tive um problema no ombro e exames de sangue temporariamente anormais. Agora imagine aqueles que se entregam totalmente a isso? Acho que hoje em dia tenho o equilíbrio perfeito para ficar saudável, essa é a minha única preocupação. Não me importo se as pessoas vão me ver como mais bonita ou mais feia. Eu só quero controlar meu peso e minha massa muscular. E se alguém me pedir dicas, é isso que eu recomendaria. Não existe corpo perfeito para mim; não me importo se minha parceira tem celulite ou uma barriga de Miss Universo.
