Komodo Dragons in the Wild

Hello, Photography Lovers,
Today, I want to share with you one of the most fascinating creatures I've seen: Komodo Dragons. Never heard of them? Read on and find out.

Komodo Dragons live at the heart of Flores, Indonesia. With a population of around 3,500, Komodo dragons have the perfect spot to breed. With the whole area being a National Park, it's hard to get to see these creatures in the wild. We were lucky and had managed to find an anchor spot all to ourselves. Now you are probably wondering, "How did you get these photos?" With a drone and the not-so-famous zoom feature.

Komodo Dragons use their tongues to sample the air and detect food, much like snakes if you're wondering why they always stick their tongue out. When we anchored, they most definitely heard our anchor chain noise and therefore decided to come out from their bushes and greet us. I didn't waste any time and flew my drone over to check them out. At first, they were just roaming around, and after realizing that we were not so interesting, they crawled back into their bushes. So, only had 5-10 minutes to get these Photos.

On this beach that day we saw 3 Komodo Dragons, even a baby one that was very scared and only stuck out his face once and disappeared. They were most likely a family seeing as they had interesting fights between them.

It always amazes me that when you cruise around the world, you never know what to expect next. There is always something new in every bay or harbour you visit. But this was definitely a highlight of Indonesia. It's not many times in life you see these creatures in the wild.

If you ever get the chance to go to Indonesia to visit these amazing creatures, I recommend you rent a boat and go to Kode Pulau Motang Island. This was the bay we were in. Or you can do the regular tourist tour, but that would mean you would see them behind a cage.

I appreciate all the support I've been getting on my posts; it truly keeps me motivated. I have lots to share with you all. This is only Part 1 of the Komodo Dragons episode, so stay tuned for more.
I hope you enjoyed this Post
Until next time,
Paul
