We're being spoiled this Christmas thanks to Epic Games, as they've released some truly amazing games for free these past few days. I try not to cover all of them on this account to avoid repetitive content, but I want to remind you that they'll be giving away a free game every day until December 31st.
This way, we've already had Hogwarts Legacy, as well as two other slightly lower-profile titles, but this time we've found something interesting again. Indie shooters will always be my weakness, especially when you add some literary elements to them, and believe me, the next game checks all those boxes, in addition to being a title quite well-regarded by the community.
It's Blood West, a shooter from a couple of years ago that, while I had an idea of what it was like, now that I've seen some gameplay, it surprises me even more. It even has Lovecraftian horror, something that I can tell you right now is difficult to find in any video game, especially one that they give us for free for a couple of hours at Christmas, so well, we're going to take advantage of it.
The premise is simple but effective: we embody a resurrected gunslinger in a Wild West corrupted by demonic forces. The world is full of abandoned towns, cursed swamps, infested mines, and creatures that seem straight out of a Lovecraftian nightmare with a cowboy hat.
There are no big cinematics or long explanatory dialogues. Blood West opts for environmental storytelling, where the player reconstructs what happened in this world through notes, environments, and encounters with characters as strange as they are unsettling. The tone is oppressive, melancholic, and violent, and it works wonderfully.
It reminds me a lot of Doom; its design, more than anything, brings back fond memories of 90s shooters, and I think the gameplay also does a good job of reflecting that retro feel that has always attracted me to certain games. Anything with pixel art or anything that resembles the feel of Doom or Unreal Tournament will always be welcome in my library.
And that's how we'll be until the end of the year, and the truth is, I'm enjoying it quite a lot. I know that after this I'll have to deal with the Epic Games launcher, but for some time now I've had a library full of excellent games on Epic that I hope to try when I get a better PC, some goals that I'll be sharing in future posts.

Estamos siendo bien mimados estas navidades de la mano de epic games y es que estos últimos días han sacado gratis unos auténticos juegazos en toda regla, trato de no cubrirlos todos en esta cuenta para no hacer repetitivo mi contenido pero les recuerdo que estás navidades hasta el 31 estarán dando un juego gratis todos los días
De esta forma ya hemos tenido hogwarts legacy así como otros dos títulos algo más de bajo perfil pero esta vez nuevamente nos encontramos con algo interesante, los shooters indie siempre van a ser mi debilidad en especial cuando les agregas algún elemento literario a ellos y créanme que el siguiente juego cubre todos esos checks además de ser un título bastante bien valorado por la comunidad
Se trata de Blood West, un Shooter de hace un par de años que si bien tenia la idea de como era ahora que veo algunos gameplays me deja aún más sorprendido, tiene hasta terror lovecraftiano, algo que desde ya les digo que es difícil de encontrar en cualquier videojuego mas en uno que nos den gratis por un par de horas en navidad, asi que bueno lo vamos a aprovechar
La premisa es sencilla pero efectiva: encarnamos a un pistolero resucitado en un oeste corrupto por fuerzas demoníacas. El mundo está lleno de pueblos abandonados, pantanos malditos, minas infestadas y criaturas que parecen sacadas de una pesadilla lovecraftiana con sombrero vaquero.
No hay grandes cinemáticas ni largos diálogos explicativos. Blood West apuesta por una narrativa ambiental, donde el jugador va reconstruyendo qué ocurrió en este mundo a través de notas, escenarios y encuentros con personajes tan extraños como inquietantes. El tono es opresivo, melancólico y violento, y funciona de maravilla.
Me recuerda bastante a Doom, su diseño mas que nada me hace tener buenos recuerdos de los shooters de los 90s y creo que tambien la jugabilidad hace un buen trabajo reflejando esa sensacion retro que siempre me ha atraido de ciertos juegos, todo lo que sea pixel art o todo lo que se asemeje a esa sensacion de los Doom o los Unreal Tournaments siempre va a ser bienvenido en mi biblioteca
Y asi vamos a estar hasta finales de año y la verdad es que lo estoy disfrutando bastante, se que despues de esto voy a tener que estar luchando con el launcher de epic pero desde hace algun tiempo tengo la biblioteca en epic llena de juegos excelentes que espero probar cuando tenga una mejor pc, algunas metas que voy a estar comapartiendo en los proximos post
Si llegaste hasta aca, te recuerdo que para reclamar el juego solo necesitas una cuenta en epic, ir a la pagina del juego y darle a "reclamar" despues de eso ya vas a poder verlo en tu biblioteca y despues de instalar el launcher ya vas a poder jugarlo sin retraso, es bastante facil y vamos a estar asi toda esta navidad, asi que si quieren ver los siguientes juegos les recomiendo seguir mi cuenta!
