Hello beautiful members of the community.
It's a new week and it's time to share project I worked upon over the weekend.
This particular project is the most stressful project I've ever done this year and that's because it's my first attempt on it.
It's called an inbuilt corset. This kind of outfit has both a corset (grommet back) and zipper.
It's so technical and worst of it is, it is a See-through outfit.
We all know how stressful sewing on a tulle net can be, y'all I almost gave up on this project.
It's one of my assignment in school and was meant to be scored over 10.
At first, I just wanted to skip it because of how stressful it was, but then I realized that courage is a quality that makes us more skillful in the fashion industry.
Facing one's fear on time, helps them succeed on time as well. It helps you tackle the problem and find solution immediately.
A frame in my school says mistakes are part if growth, when we make mistake we become more careful never to repeat such again.
So after, encouraging myself, I got to work.
I picked up my bonnings, tulle net, and the main fabric which was a gift from my mom.
It's a George fabric and I also picked a matching zipper and started my project.
I encased the bonnings with the net, ensuring it's thick enough to hide them.
I also caged the cup. That's another big work on it's own. It requires using bonnings to make a cup around the bust area, making it firm and secure.
after which, I fleshed using fibre. Then I made a cup cover It added structure to the bust as seen here.
I joined the cups to the net after adding bonnings to the net and covering with a second layer.
As for the back?
I cinched the waist with about 0.75 inches which defined the Wasitline, nd at this point, I was about 60% gone in the project.
After joining the main corset together, I used the George fabric to cover the corset, adding the zipper to it.
I made a skirt for the lower bodice and created a style line which I hand tacked and did same for the back. It became a dress which looked s amazing.
The outcome wowed me and made me forget all the stress I went through on the dress.
Here's a GiF on what the back looks like. You see the inbuilt corset right there? Having both a zipper and a gromment back. It's such a project I'll never forget in a hurry.
I'm glad I was able to make my first attempt on it and I'm sure the next one will bang more than this.
Images used are mine. Outfit cut and sewn by me
