Walk with me to Lagos Island to get some fabric for my semi final project.
I woke up pretty early to avoid traffic jam and to meet the market women and men in their peak time of selling. A very wise thing to do.
My school mate joined me on this trip halfway because her place was closer to the market
I boarded about three buses to get to this market, it was quite stressful but my joy was that, I ended up buying the things I needed.
There are so many captivating things on the road to capture, but I was being careful so that passerby won't hijack my phone since I was on a moving bus.
We passed the national theatre in my state. That's where famous people come for live show during the festive season.
I've been there a couple of times but it's been a very long time. I was excited to see the place once again, in good condition and the fascinating thing about it is, the shape of the building.
Sometimes, I feel like the inspiration behind the building was a captain's cap. Hehehhe.. It seems so to me.
We arrived at the market when some just opened their shop and where eager to sell. We toured round the market for different things.
We saw warehouses of jewelries, shoes, fabrics and so on but we focuses more on the fabric area.
We came to shop for lace or damask (A very quality one) so we walked straight to the house of fabric.
At this warehouse, we saw varieties of what we wanted that we had so many options to pick from.
The only thing that limited our choices were the amount tagged to each fabric.
They were very expensive but the traders were quite considerate. They offered us a drink and we negotiated. I ended up buying a beaded lace which was about $27 per yard. I bought four abs a half yardage because of my style.
I also bought a pair of shoe and a fancy purse to rock with it.
It was such a wonderful market experience so I thought of sharing here with the amazing community. All thanks to
for this community. Where we can share our Wednesday walk and some of the fascinating things we see while we walk.I still have a couple of things to buy for my final project and when it's time, I'll make sure to share the journey here too. Until then, do have an amazing day.
