The pear blooming again...

So, it was a long day in the garden at last. But never long enough. I worked from about 9:00 AM to about 7:45 PM with a short lunch break at 12:00 AM and a coffee break at about 3:00 PM.

And I went through a lot of small tasks, one after the other. I had a lot of things planned b7t without a list or a schedule, so I will try to list them here and now for the first time. Let's see what I was able to do for 10 hours...

  1. I brought about a dozen recently discarded linden branches that I found the other day by the sidewalk next to my old high school. I peeled some of the bark at the bottom of each of them with a pruning tool, and I put them all in the soil, hoping that a couple of them could still take root. I feel this is the right season to give them a chance.

  2. I did the same with some thirty or so almond branches that I had also recently pruned, this time myself. Yeah, I was late with that particular tree. But Nature can still do its thing and give some new life.

  3. I found about five or six oak saplings among the grass and too care of their surroundings, eventually marking the spots with sticks and also laying freshly pulled out grass all around the stems. That is like mulch, suppressing unwanted growth around them and keeping the soil moist.

  4. I did the same with five or six walnut saplings.

  5. Then I did the same with a couple of lilac saplings.

  6. Then, with two patches of strawberries.

  7. Then, with the bamboo growing area. There will be seven new stems coming out of the green bamboo's root system.

  8. I watered the first potatoes and carrots to show above ground.

  9. I continued working on a digging and building a curved mound of shoveled soil project.

  10. I took nine lavender cuttings and put them into pots to try and take root.

  11. I loaded some soil in buckets for our urban yard and some sand, too, for making mortar.
