Spoilers Ahead!

As we always see in the anime, there is usually a happy ending but most of the anime have sad ending, and 5 Centimeters Per Second is one of them. The anime movie consists of 3 parts of their lives.

In the first part the story begins with Tono Akaki and Shinohara Akari, who have been friends since elementary school. As time passed, their love interest grew. When they were in the 6th grade, their bond deepened even more. There were some cherry blossom trees infront of their school, and they often visited that place together. It was truly a mesmerizing scene.

After some time, Akari had to move away. Even though they were living at a long distance, they still wrote letters to each other. The story is about how their love story never began and teaches real-life morals about moving on.

Tono and Akari had a genuine relationship, but they never talked about it, before leaving the city and moving further away, Tono decided to confess his feelings. That is the main reason he travelled by the train. This movie is really old, but if you take a look at the animation and soundtrack, you will find it mesmerizing. I felt alive in the moment when Tono lost the confession letter. I could feel myself in his shoes; that's how good the story was.

He was very late to meet Akari because the train was delayed. Tono was frustrated as he felt he had lost everything, but little did he know that Akari was still waiting for him to arrive. It was truly the sweetest moment as they share the food that Akari had made for them to eat. They were living in the moment, and each moment felt real, as if it were a real story.

At last, they had kissed under a cherry blossom tree; this was my favourite part. As I expected it to be a romance anime, I was very happy to see this scenario. However, later I realized that Tono did not confess to Akari and left. Akari also had a letter to give, but she didn't because it was a confession to Tono. Both remained silent about their feelings, and that made sad. They did this purposely, knowing there was no future for them; they understood that they would never be together, as they have different paths. Akari didn't feel the necessity to confess for this reason.

Everything was astonishing, right down to the details. The storyline, soundtrack, and dialogues were all beyond impressive. I feel that the production team did a great job making this anime movie.

In the second part of the movie, we see Tono in high school, where a girl named Kanae has an unbearably huge crush on him. She tries to confess her feelings to Tono, but he is still stuck in the past. His feelings for Akari have never faded from his heart. It is sad to see that Tono is still in pain and can't move on.

In the third part of the movie, we see that Akari is happily married. Tono and Akari meet each other in a public place, but they don't recognize one another. It seems that everything has changed in their lives, and they have moved on from the past. This scene made me cry so much because it was not what I was expecting for them. I felt a pain in my heart as I saw Akari with someone else. Even though Tono tried to move on, he could never settle down with anyone else, no matter how hard he tried. He has always wanted Akari in his heart.

In the ending scene, he is once again seen under some cherry blossom trees, and the blossoms are falling all around him, which makes it even more emotional, as cherry blossoms hold many memories of their relationship.

The ending of the movie made me cry so hard; I was overwhelmed with emotions. Anyway, it is one of the greatest movies. This film shows the reality of how the world moves so fast with time. You also have to move forward; otherwise, you will be left behind. I think this movie has taught me a lot about life. I could feel some burdens inside me, but I felt everything lift after watching this movie.

I love cherry blossoms, so whenever I see a scene with cherry blossoms, it makes my heart pound faster, as this moment is very nostalgic for me. Actually, I have a desire to visit Japan once in my lifetime just to see the cherry blossoms because they mean a lot to me. Japanese animation is the best, as it brings out the richness of their culture.

Lastly, I would rate this anime movie 5 Centimeters Per Second a 10 out of 10 for its amazing storyline and animation. It also has a beautiful song, and it's called One more time One more chance, and that is truly lovely. If you're ready to get emotional and overwhelmed like I was, then make sure to watch this anime movie. Don't miss out on this amazing film!
