Thoughts on teeth

Hardly a topic that occupies many minds, is it?

They appear in our jaws at some point in childhood. Some fall. Some take root for the long haul. But we carry on mostly unbothered by them for the greater part of our lives.

Then there are those of us who suffer from minor to major disagreements with these crowned inhabitants of our jaws.

Cavities, disease and accidents ... to be dealt with by experts armed with grinding, whining apparatus that have been known to render you ... speechless 😜

I kid!

The thing is that other than those who get through life relatively unscathed, with semi/regular visits to their dentist and semi/regular brushing, the rest know a level of misery that cannot be truly described.

For example, having a foreign object like braces or dentures in your mouth is no picnic. It fills you with an irrational desire to rip them out, ignoring the possibility that the only way you'll ever eat a burger again is through a straw!

Having your jaw drilled to insert a metal post? Oof! Now, that's something else. And when that post needs to be yanked out with much heaving and tugging? Well, you might find yourself cultivating a newfound appreciation for 'little things'! 🦷
