In this world, it's not possible to only find the goods and never come across anything bad. Failure, denial, frustration will always be there. But this doesn't mean that we can't be optimistic. So, what about being realistic then, you may wonder.

Well, there is a fine line between optimism and being realistic.

Optimism teaches us to focus on positivity around us. While being realistic means we should know the consequences and prepare for this. There is no clash between them. We can be realistic while still be very optimistic.

Let me give you a real-life example!

Suppose there some sudden incident happens and you couldn't prepare yourself for your next exam that much. Now you know you may not achieve a good read. But you can be still optimistic. You can focus on preparing other alternatives like doing great next semester to reach your goal. Here being optimistic means, you need to focus on what is good in your life, what can help you to do better next, and all.

So you see, being very optimistic while realistic is nothing impossible!

Optimism doesn't make us unrealistic rather it shows us how to be more realistic so we can achieve our goals. It's our duty to figure out what unrealistic goals we are setting, what we are doing not. Thinking positive is not a barrier, the barrier is our lack of correlating ability.

I would say, it's essential to be optimistic while we are being realistic. Because optimism teaches us to learn from our hardships. Like we tell ourselves tomorrow will be better. It gives us the courage to do better in life.
