We are programmed to watch out for patterns that could jeopardize our survival and longevity. That's why we're always so focused on news about misfortunes, wars, conflicts or even simple gossip.

Everything captures our attention, and I wish it didn't. It's just not possible. If we don't surround ourselves with this news, turn off the television, avoid social media and communication channels like Telegram, we'll end up caught in the net!

We can't exist without everything that happens to us and around us always being predictable and non-harmful. That reality doesn't exist. And I'm glad it doesn't. But our focus is on anticipation.

Our mind loves to look for patterns. And it always tries to! Even if they don't exist, completely independent events come together!

That's why we believe that being born at a certain time or on a certain day of a certain month, or even a certain year, can condition the way we act, think or even the “luck” that befalls us... How ridiculous is this idea?

Such a pre-design would be the greatest confirmation of the existence of an almost childlike “theater”. We would be mere puppets, in the “hands” of something that was already written the moment we were born. I do believe that the only condition set at the moment of our birth is that at some point we will no longer be part of this reality as living beings.
If there is something beyond this reality, it's something I believe, but I can't think that my belief is a reality!

In the daily dance of publications or fateful news, our mind looks for similar connections. It tries to see if there is anything that could jeopardize our existence, if anything we choose today could have serious consequences. If anything we choose for our dinner could cause coronary heart disease many years from now.

There aren't many things that could be harmful to my health that I like to do, or choose to do. This in a “natural” way. Perhaps as the only exception when it comes to having a more active lifestyle, but I've been managing to do so since 2017, when after changing a medication I take for a chronic condition, which has enabled me to be more active (fewer side effects). In terms of food, I try to make the choices that my body tells me are good. I don't have much trouble giving up sweets, or processed foods, or foods with very high calorie densities.

Every day we are bombarded with the less beneficial effects of certain types of food; or even the benefits of including others in our diet.

The other day I heard a very important phrase: "If the news that's being released today won't be remembered for more than a year, then it's because it wasn't essential for you to worry about it"

And do you think that nowadays the news is looking for the immediate sensationalism that the social networks absorb all the time? Is our attention span, which then translates into clicks, a slave to our very nature of trying to predict everything that might happen to us?
