A tie has never looked so good.

I absolutely love it when people consciously choose to stand out and this was exactly the idea behind the creation of this crochet tie–originality.

I was contracted to make a crochet tie a few weeks ago and being that I've never made a crochet tie before, I saw this as an exciting opportunity to try out something different. Initially, I made the tie without a sample nor explicit measurements but when the owner of the tie saw the first sample, it wasn't exactly what he wanted. The first sample was slimmer but he wanted something a bit wider. As such, I had to redo the tie and to reiterate, it was such an exciting venture.

Procedure

The process of making this tie was a really easy one that only involved a few increase and decrease rows. The entire project was made using single crochet stitches to ensure the tie came our firm and with minimal spaces.

First, I made a chain of two. Then, I turned the work over and into the second space from the hook, I inserted two single crochet stitches. This served as the first row.

For the next row, I made a chain of one, turned the work over and made an increase by putting two stitches into the same space, bringing the row to about five chains.

I kept making increases until I got the required width. Once I got the width, I stopped making increases and just maintained the stitch count for about six inches.

After this point, I began making little decreases; nothing too significant. I continued making decreases all the way to the top of the tie.

At the top of the tie, I maintained a stitch count of eight till I got to the very end of the tie. Next, I sewed in my loose ends and that was pretty much the end of this amazing creation.

The tie took about two hours to make because I was constantly measuring my progress and comparing it to the sample tie the owner of this project had given me.

I didn't think a crochet tie could look so good, plus I thought it was just going to be very bulky and unappealing, but once my friend wore the tie, I was just so proud; proud of how good it looked and how well he rocked it. Also, I got to refresh my memory on tie knotting and after failing a couple of times, I got it right.

What do you think of this beautiful piece of art? Would you love to add a crochet tie to your collection?
