A closer look at my #secretsanta gift.

Engelhard is one of the most recognizable names in the history of silver bullion and their Prospector Rounds are widely regarded as the most desirable round that the minting company produced, and thanks to my #secretsanta I now have one of my very own.

Since Engelhard stopped production of their bullion products in the 80s, finding these rounds is becoming more and more difficult as the years go by.

These particular rounds are noteworthy due to their design and inherent quality that is found in all Engelhard issues. Some people would argue that the simple design of a "prospector" is dull and boring, but I think it complements the round and is actually well designed and positioned on the round.

These rounds are no longer being minted and are increasingly difficult to locate in excellent condition. I don't know im my #secretsanta cut this one out from its protective, plastic wrapping or bought it specifically for me after reading my #twelvedaysofchristmas log, but it's in very good condition for a silver round that's 35yrs old.

Prospector Silver Rounds from Engelhard are made of .999 fine silver and are as pure as they come. While they are not in brand new condition due to their age in the market, many people prefer to own these particular rounds over their newer, differently manufactured counterparts.
