We’ve reached day seven of my 12 Days of Christmas Precious Metals Wishlist, and today I’m asking Santa for something that’s been on my mind for years: the 2018 Perth Mint Silver Figure 8 Coin.

Now, this isn’t your average coin. The Perth Mint really broke the mould with this one, quite literally, when they produced a coin shaped like the number eight. And yes, it’s officially a coin because it carries a face value, despite its unconventional shape. I remember when it was first released, a few of the OG members of the #silvergoldstackers community managed to pick them up, and I’ve been quietly envious ever since.

The mintage was incredibly limited, and as a result, prices quickly climbed beyond what I could justify at the time. Looking back, I’ve always kicked myself for not stretching my budget just a little further to grab one. The craftsmanship, the uniqueness, and the symbolism behind the number eight, a figure often associated with luck and infinity — make it a truly standout piece in any collection.

So, if Santa happens to be scrolling through Hive this Christmas, maybe he’ll see my wish and decide that I’ve been good enough this year to wake up with one of these beauties in my stocking. It might just
