When You Stranded on Dao Ti Top Island, Hanoi - Vietnam

No, I wasn't actually stranded on this island. This is just a metaphor to describe the situation at hand. I had a long time to explore Ha Long Bay, and everywhere I went, there were too many people. This was my final destination in Halong Bay, so let's get to it!

Dao Ti Top Island

Ti Top Island is located in the middle of Halong Bay and was named by Russian astronaut Gherman Titov, hence the name Ti Top Island.

The Ti Top Island is one of the most famous because has white sand and outstanding view around it. The island is also popular among climbers for its breathtaking views. Unfortunately, I was already exhausted by the time we arrived at Titop Island, so when our tour guide invited us to climb the hill, I opted to veg out on the beach, even though it was very crowded.

For the Vietnamese people, Gherman Titov is a man of great importance in their country's history, so it's no surprise that a large statue or monument stands on Ti Top Beach. The statue seems to welcome anyone who arrives. It's a memorial to astronaut Gherman Titov, who first set foot on the island. Hmm, it seems Gherman Titov discovered this island. Very interesting, innit?

When I first arrived on the island, this statue of Gherman Titov really caught my attention, so I wasn't interested in exploring the rest of the island, which I later regretted because this was a rare opportunity. Time constraints also made me less confident that I could climb in the allotted time, so I chose to explore the area and its busy beach.

Look at the clean, beautiful sand. It's so shiny white it even makes my feet look dirty.

This is the view you'll see as you gaze into the distance from the shore of Ti Top Island. Numerous cruise ships are sailing away from Ti Top Island and heading towards it. This is because the island is one of the destinations included in one-day trip packages around Halong Bay.

This is the best part of a Halong Bay trip: seeing the incredible sunset. But it was bad news, because when the sky began to turn golden, it meant our stop at Ti Top Island was over. I even remember our tour guide running around looking for me because the time was up.

The trip to Halong Bay was one of the most precious trips of my life because it was the first time I traveled to a place I had absolutely no idea about. I was just afraid of missing out when social media kept making places in Vietnam go viral. I'm also grateful because even though this was my first experience and we only relied on reviews on the internet, even though we booked this trip online, nothing throughout this trip—Halong Bay—disappointed me. I was truly very satisfied. I hope I can have the same experience when I travel to a new country for the first time.

I didn't take many photos at the beach because there were too many people in bikinis along the shore. I'm not saying that's wrong, I just felt I should respect those who were dressed appropriately by not taking any photos of them. But you can still enjoy the ambience of Ti Top Island beach in this video of me playing in the water along the shore.
