Has a Wolf Visited our Land? 🐺

A handful of days ago, whilst visiting the forest area on the hill above our land, we were warned by the local vigile that there was a wolf roaming the area. More on that in my previous post:

Apparently the wolf had attacked/bitten someone's dog.

Then today, while buying groceries from a truck in town, the friendly guy who works this pop-up-shop and lives in our village talked about that same lupo.

To be more precise, it had eaten his dog whole!
The guy had only found his pet's spine/spinal chord.
Poor doggy.

He told us about it because he learnt about our big plot of land that includes a foresty area.

Then this afternoon, when we were working on our land: collecting kindling, sawing wood, removing trees and generally taking care of one of the wilder forest areas, @clareartista stumbled upon some animal jobbies ( aka pieces of poo/shit ).

She thought at first that they might be from a ruminant/grazer but I had my doubts about that. They looked more like feces of a big dog.
Who knows, it might actually be πŸΊπŸ’©

I was considering to open the poop with a stick to see what I'd find inside but Clare found that a nasty idea so I decided otherwise.

Here's a close up picture of the poo, with my thumb next to it for an idea of the size.

Comunque/anyhow, we weren't shocked by possibly having had a visit of a wolf in our forest/garden. We love nature and - more importantly - are not afraid of it. The more diverse the wild life, the better. It's a sign of a heathy ecosystem and makes us feel like we are doing a good job on our land, making it a more attractive place for all kinds of animals.

We are not entirely silly though so we decided to leave the forest area and return to our rental house when the sun started setting.

Also, whilst working away amongst the trees, we heard a dog yowling, in the distance. We hoped it wasn't attacked by a wolf but, in all honesty, it sounded more like a dog ( on a chain ) feeling sad. It probably wanted to roam free, like the wolf.

Clare and I agreed that it is a sad thing though that so many dogs here are kept on a chain, outside ( to guard a place ) and it is, of course, even worse when there's a wolf around and the dogs can't escape, if needed.

We had a really fun time in nature today. Enjoy the pictures!

P.S. Clare shared a new episode of her podcast, yesterday, where the two of us talked ( about our life ). In fact, it's the very first time that I joined her on her podcast. You can find it here:

P.P.S. I did some research and it's probably not wolf poop. It might even be human shit. Imagine a wild (wo)man roaming our land at night. Now that would be some scary shit!
