Guide: SEO for your own Hive posts
26 comments

Difficult topic as Hive as a platform needs improvement in general - but
Some tips for making your own content SEO optimized
We love longer content given we started more as a blogging platform that did not appreciate short content a lot -
it also important to create your own content in a way search engine ranks it better (here I talk about Google). For SEO outside Hive your posts might perform when you follow certain steps - not sure everyone is aware of them. This is what Google might like at least. I also asked ChatGpt to support me here:
We want that our posts rank well on Hive itself but also get external search visibility
And in addition engage the crypto-savvy audience resulting in new Hive users / investors - agree?
However I do also understand that some users to NOT want to optimize this for web2 and search-engines of course :-)!
Hive SEO Checklist trial
1. Start with a strong, search-friendly title
What to do:
- Put your main keyword (the one you wanted to be categoized in (e.g., “Blockchain Content Marketing” or “Crypto Investment Strategy”) early in the title.
- Keep that title it under 60 characters if you want it to look clean in Google search results.
- Make it intriguing enough to stand out in Hive feeds.
Why:
- Hive users and reader skim titles quickly, and Google uses titles heavily for ranking.
- A balance of curiosity + clarity works best.
2. Use proper Hive tags strategically
What to do:
- Hive lets you add many tags (depending on UI) — use 5-7 relevant ones max.
- Mix broad tags (
hive
,crypto
,investment
) with niche tags (contentmarketing
,salesstrategy
,web3growth
).
Why:
- As we all know Hive’s internal discovery relies heavily on tags.
- Relevant tags boost cross-community visibility and earn more engagement.
3. Structure posts for readability
What to do:
- Use H2/H3 headers for subtopics.
- Break up paragraphs, add bullet points, and avoid walls of text.
- Keep sentences crisp — Hive readers prefer scannable content :-)!.
Why:
- Well-structured posts get longer on-page time, which improves visibility.
- It signals quality both to Hive’s trending algorithm and external search engines.
4. Place keywords naturally (not stuffed)
What to do:
- Include your target keyword(s) in the first 100 words of your post.
- Sprinkle variations of it 2–4 times across the post.
- Use related terms, not just exact matches — e.g., for “SaaS Sales Strategies,” also include “automation in sales” or “AI-driven lead scoring.”
Why:
- Google and Hive readers alike favor natural writing.
- Overstuffing keywords hurts credibility and ranking.
5. Use internal & external links smartly
What to do:
- Link to your previous Hive posts where relevant (hence keep track of your own content is key).
- Link to credible external sources to back up claims / messages.
- Use descriptive anchor text, not “click here.”
Why:
- Internal links keep users on your Hive profile longer → better engagement metrics.
- External links boost authority in Google’s eyes.
6. Optimize images for SEO
What to do:
- Use at least one image per section where possible (hard I know!).
- Rename image files with keywords if possible (

instead ofIMG_6978.png
). - Always add alt text where Hive allows it.
Why:
- Hive posts with images get more upvotes and shares.
- Google Images can drive additional traffic.
7. Include a compelling intro and CTA
What to do:
- The first 200 characters matter most — they’re used in Hive previews.
- End with a clear call-to-action (“What’s your experience with…?”, “Drop your thoughts in the comments.”). It sounds boring but it helps also on LinkedIn
Why:
- Hooks readers fast and drives engagement, which is rewarded in Hive’s ranking.
8. Cross-promote outside Hive
What to do:
- Share your post on LinkedIn, Reddit, X/Twitter, and relevant Telegram/Discord groups.
- Use the same keywords and tags when sharing externally.
Why:
9. Post timing & engagement boost
What to do:
- Best times for Hive crypto audiences: Mon–Thu, early UTC mornings.
- Engage with comments early — the algorithm favors active conversations.
Why:
- Hive’s trending system partially measures early traction and comments.
10. Track and Refine
What to do:
- Use PeakD or Ecency analytics to monitor views and engagement.
- Test different headline formats, tag combinations, and posting times.
Why:
- SEO on Hive is iterative — small tweaks lead to steady growth.
