The words intelligent and smart are often confused in the day to day use of language. People sometimes refer to people who are intelligent as being smart ( or vice versa ) since they misunderstand the unique qualities of intelligence and smartness. One can have either of the two qualities at the same time but it 's fairly normal to be smart but not necessarily intelligent, or intelligent but not necessarily smart.

Intelligence is the natural ability to learn and memorize huge amounts of information on given subjects. It is the natural ability that makes humans possess an abundance of knowledge in this particular field over the average person ( due to their innate information memorizing and understanding skills ). They just know a lot about certain topics.

Intelligence to my mind seems to be the use of knowledge in the now. Someone who is smart doesn't have too much knowledge but is adept at using whatever knowledge he has in the real world.

The real difference is at the level of things within society. Intelligence will allow a person to move up in his field of work / training but it will also limit him to that field. Smartness on the other hand helps people think differently and be able to cope with different situations more efficiently when they occur.

Intelligence is the ability to understand and replicate information. This is normally something that comes with birth. Smartness is actually being able to apply the information to real life situations. Too many people are theory people but applied that theory poorly. If you want to not be an intelligent fool you should show that you know what you 're doing.

One of the exciting aspects of those qualities is that they are universal. At least, intelligence cannot be learned. Smartness can be learned. This simple distinction allows that not everyone is intelligent, but everyone can become smart. Reading alone doesn't make people intelligent, intelligence is what makes reading and understanding easier. Reading can in fact bring people to the level of intelligence when they apply ideas in practical terms. People who are intelligent may seem to think they are smarter. At times, the facts and reality tend to overlap. Most wise people carry their intelligence to the grave while excellent people use their finite intelligence to succeed in life as well as endeavors other than what they're doing. That is why geniuses won't always lead companies; excellent people generally do.

In social situations intelligent people tend to be introverted and self-absorbed (mostly thinking a lot), and dislike doing things in groups. Smart people are more likely to be successful and happy in social situations than normal persons. Though intelligence does come in handy when choosing mates, smart people develop and maintain strong relationships (as you can see in the case of love) where it is smartness that helps make relationships last longer.

Smartness and intelligence must both be a part of the finance world in order to survive. Intelligence leads to about 40% of financial success, followed by intelligent decision making and bold action, if one is to reap rewards in any field. Intelligent decision making can find new opportunities in finance, but the smartness is to have the courage to pursue them in open business worlds.

Most of the time it is up to the world which trait is more useful. Intelligence is valued in schools, laboratories and scientific disciplines ( one has to learn constantly ) and all other activities need smartness. Smartness has practical utility and everyday usability while intelligence is rare.

Intelligent individuals are always making the right decisions and taking the proper steps towards achieving certain goals. As opposed to being intelligent being smart can be achieved through practical knowledge and experience. Smart decision making can be readily detectable by society and therefore usually seen as a subjective trait.

Intelligence and smartness are considered in the world to be good qualities but they can be applied differently Intelligence is a base for knowledge and smartness shows how that knowledge can be used in real life and is the source of accomplishments as well Understanding the difference can help people find a way to use their talents which are inborn yet also learn some extra skills for overall growth.
