Having served in the United States Army, Veteran's Day is always a tough day for me. Like Memorial Day, I like to remember those who served and gave their lives for the ideals in which they believe. I have had relatives who have served in the Revolutionary War (American War in Britain) and one who died in those battlefields. My grandfather served in the Pacific during World War II and my uncle in in the Vietnam conflict. Subsequently, I served in the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, however I was he only fool to dedicate more than 20 years to the country as a reservist and full time soldier.

Farther back my family even traces back to Charlemagne, the Holy Roman Emperor. It seems that throughout history we can't escape conflict and violence, especially in the name of religion. I know Charlemagne would often use conversion to Catholicism at the sword point, I guess covert or die is a very good motivator. It's not a tactic exclusive to him, it's been used over and over in human history.

I have seen men and women die in the name of patriotism, and I won't forget their sacrifices. They all knew what they were risking and deserve to be remembered. Every time we put on the uniform we knew the risks, but believed out nation could make a difference. It's a shame politicians now runs wars, not generals. Generals are in it to win, politicians are soft and scared to go to the bathroom by themselves.

I really have come to hate wars. In the US the goals change from administration to administration, and the US withdrawal inevitably lead to absolute disaster. ISIS took over Iraq and the Taliban took over Afghanistan, so what really was achieved? Men and women died for nothing... My friends died for nothing...

Anyway, today I'll feature some bands with material covering military service...

Were are these wars really worth the human cost? In the end, the answer is no. And it always has been...

Anyway, let's move onto those who celebrates those who fought even though they didn't do so themselves. Welcome to Three Tune Tuesday!

Sammy Hagar

Sammy Hagar has always been one to support the military and his efforts aren't unappreciated. He's one of the rockers that cares about those who serve to keep freedoms protected. He even produced the song "Remember the Heroes" in 1983.

Metallica

One of my favorite bands of all time, they have always been supporters of the troops through thick and thin. One of their greatest songs celebrates the fallen, my brothers and sisters, in "For Whom the Bell Tolls".

Alice in Chains

One of my favorite Seattle bands, "Rooster" couldn't put it better. It's all about staying alive!

That will do it for this Veteran's Day. I miss my brothers and sisters lost to battle, and those later lost to suicide. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and have a great day!
