Happy Belated New Year Hivers! Adios 2025. Return of The Dude

Man, I don't even know where to start. A lot has transpired since my last post. I hate posting negative but I'm happy to leave 2025 in the rear view mirror. It just wasn't a good year for me. Personally, I'm doing fine. I really can't say the same for everything around me.

Where Do I Even Start

I didn't do much trading in 2025. I've been trading market cycles and frankly, I was expecting some sort of an alt season with serious momentum last year. For the most part, things went literally sideways. I pulled a few gains from a few coins, but most went sideways. I suppose it could be worse, everything could have dumped, and I am down a little bit. For the most part though, I'm like "Even Steven" on just about everything. Still, when you're living off your investments, you really need them to go up from time to time. 🤣 So, yeah, I suppose it could be worse.

Outside of trading, there wasn't much travel. I started out the 2025 riding season nursing a feral cat back to health. Ironically 2026 is starting out the same way. The same cat came home last night beat up with a badly sprained leg. ☹️ He can barely walk on it, so I'm back to nursing him back to health.

Besides the cats, I have 2 sick relatives dealing with cancer. One with a failing liver, the other with severe prostate cancer. Both in their 80s. My parents. So right now, my main focus is on taking care of them and helping out as much as I can. They tend to depend on me a lot these days, and I'm happy I'm in a position to be helpful. Travel is out of the question though. Who knows, maybe a couple short camping trips in 2026 or some daycations to some nearby cities. I don't think I can really plan much more.

Oh yeah, I'm also pretty sure my forever cat Buddy has hyper thyroid issues which never ends well for cats :( So, I'm currently taking care of two sick parents and two sick cats.

Reselling Is Going Good

Like I said, I hate posting negativity, but that's where I'm at right now. On a positive not, the only really good thing going on for me currently is reselling. I had a fantastic Christmas as far as sales go. I've expanded and I'm now selling on eBay and Depop. Also looking to start selling more locally. Eventually I'd like to expand into a brick and mortar retail space too. That's probably not going to happen in 2026 but it's a long term goal. Reselling is going good!

Trading

As far as trading is concerned I'm going back to my old style of trading. I found a decent crypto exchange I think I can work with that has a nice selection of coins. So I'll probably be posting some trading stuff this year, I need to up my trading game, I've been living off the same investments since 2017 so I'm pretty proud of my 9 year run. I'm hoping to keep it going for 2026. Fingers crossed.

Social Media and Hive

Another good thing that happened in 2025 is I gave up most of my social media. I'm really happy about that. I have an Instagram account for the motorcycle, Youtube for motorcycle and travel (a couple posts a year), and my Hive account. I think I'm sticking with Hive for 2026. I stopped posting all together because I lost interest in social networking. Hive is the only platform that doesn't leave me disgusted when I log off. Same with Instagram. If I feel disgusted every time I log off, I'm done. I've got a enough bullshit in my life without dealing with internet social media propaganda and psyops. The meme wars are over for the dude! 🙃 Still, you can expect the occasional political piece. What can I say, I like to vent from time to time. These are crazy time we're living in and worthy of discussion in my humble opinion.

Hive My Main Account

Hopefully this is the first of many posts. It's really the only place I check in on from time to time. I'd like to return to posting a couple times a week here. I love the whole Hive vibe. To me, this is what social networking should be. We have a light vibe here for the most part. Serious, but not too serious. Fun and lighthearted I think best describes most of the stuff on Hive. I'm good with that.

Guitar

A lot of guitar playing going on in 2025. I may start posting some guitar related stuff to Hive and 3Speak this year. I've been doing a lot in open tunings and currently working on blues in DADGAD tuning. So if you're into guitar, I may start posting some of that.
