Bye bye Green Gecko and hello Hatherwood on Beer Saturday

Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.
Another Saturday and another beer. Although I must admit I almost never had a beer today! I am in fact drinking my second beer as I write this post!
This afternoon we had an orange walk right outside our front door...
Being of the orange persuasion I was loving it, and even Mrs T having been to Belfast and knowing some of the history was out in the sun watching and cheering.
I think it was the marching bands that she enjoyed, being that she was in one herself..
However tonight it is about beer!
Like I said I nearly didn't have one... However I realised that tomorrow is Sunday and that is a smoothie day.
So rather than go to the supermarket and get spinach tomorrow I would get it tonight.
So down I went and whilst there I saw these two bottles...
Hatherwood IPA Bursting with AMERICAN Hops!
Yeah I saw the AMERICAN hops bit and thought hmm I am quite liking these of late...
Then I saw the bottle cap....
Being that I saw an Orange march and I too am all in favour of defending the Crown and Constitution and maintaining the Union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, serendipity was in place and two bottles came home with me.
The first has finished and we are now on the second...
Funky picture....
Do you see the white foam it came out perfect...
The beer body of the glass it looks the bubbles were in a F1 race and blurred past real fast!
Simple standard pint glass required.
F1 race over ... bubbles have calmed down!
My Verdict
According to the label ...
So I was expecting something decent.
It was bursting american hops although is bursting the right adjective?
It is very drinkable and I love the lemon and grapefruit flavours, it gave it a wee bit of nonsweetness if that makes sense! It is not as bitter as some of the IPAs which is fine by me.
It is both sippable and quaffable!
Now when I saw it on the shelf the label said The Green Gecko... me was confused so I asked gemini...
Hatherwood IPA, sold by Lidl, is a 5% ABV American IPA. It features big, tropical American hops, delivering distinctive lemon and grapefruit notes, underpinned by a subtle malt taste for balance. Previously known as "The Green Gecko.
It is 5% ABV and an American IPA and I would buy this again, if I remember it was under £2 a bottle which is pretty damn good nowadays for 500ml!
I can't seem to find much about this, it seems like a supermarket own brand beer so to speak. Gets my vote.
Posting about a beer on a Saturday on the Beer Community ....
Cheers to local beers and Happy Summer everyone
