Peppermint: The Plant of Remembrance
1 comment
Hello friends of HiveGarden, today I want to introduce you to a plant called Hierbabuena that has left a mark on me since I was little, because when I was in the care home, they used to season with that plant, I like it a lot because they were Caraotas, a typical dish from here in Venezuela and that had a very good flavor, below I present the following images of the Hierbabuena that is in my Garden.
Yesterday I started to check the garden and then I noticed that the mint had many yellow leaves, I started to clean them for its good growth and to avoid damage to it. It also had many dry leaves, I removed them all so that the mint would stay green and clean. A while ago I asked my mom, "Aside from seasoning food, what else is mint good for?" She told me that mint is medicinal and can be used to make tea for digestion. I remember that mint toothpaste was made which I really liked because it freshened my breath, it was really good. Among the memories I continued cleaning, taking out all kinds of trash since in recent years I have three mint plants which I want to keep clean so that they have good growth, so I water them every day so that they do not dry out and so they always stay beautiful with their incredible smell and color.
Mint is a very old plant, in fact there are stories and myths about it. One of the most notable is the tea for digestion, the same one my mother told me about when I was little, in ancient Babylon in the years 1800 BC they used it to treat digestive ailments. According to Greek mythology, peppermint emerged from the remains of the nymph Mentha (female deity) who was turned into a plant by Persephone, Hades' wife, out of jealousy, and then Hades softened the charm so that those who stepped on the plant would feel the pleasant aroma of peppermint.
Nowadays, peppermint is used in the food industry and we find it in different ways in the production of liqueurs, toothpaste, shampoo and other personal hygiene products, without leaving aside its great medicinal benefits not only for the digestive system but also as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic.
Who would say that a small plant would be so fascinating and with so many benefits?
Have you ever tried or seen peppermint? I would like to share more about this topic with you.
