Premium Members: How To Post Videos In Top Line Threads

Anyone who has a Leo Premium membership can not post videos in top line threads meaning they will appear without people having to click to the second layer.

This was something that previously was reserved for high reputation authors. Links being blocked at the top line prevents people from spamming the threads feed. A casualty of that means that things such as

videos and Spotify previews cannot be posted.

That was until now. It is now possible for any Premium member to post

at the top layer.

In this article we will go through how to do it.

Before getting to that, why it is not possible. Also, why is this only open to Leo Premium members?

The answer lies in the embed feature. Without Premium, the is a character restriction of 240. This does not work for embedding. However, with the switch to 1,000, this is now possible.

You Tube

This starts with grabbing a YouTube video.

We want to right click on it and copy the embed code.

Once we have the code, we open threads and paste it in there.

As we can see, this does not line up properly. For that reason, we need to alter the settings. I find that switching to 700/350 works well for desktop.

We then submit the thread.

And presto, the thread is posted with the video in it.

Spotify

We open up Spotify and choose a song. The three dots at the bottom, click then hit the share. Here we get the embed track.

This pops up and we click "copy".

We then paste the code into threads as such.

Hit thread and this is what we get.

Embed Videos From Many Different Sites

Because of the embed feature, we can post videos right into the top line threads from many different sites. The only requirement is they provide the embed code.

Here is one from CNBC about

. Again, the width was adjusted to 700 to fit in the frame better.

How about some 3Speak?

ESPN?

The Evolution of Threads

We can now embed video content from many different sources. The key is whether the site where the video is housed has the embed code available. If so, it is possible to post it in threads.

Also, with YouTube, there is a feature that allows the channel to determine if it will allow viewing from outside

. Be sure to check when you embed it, If not, you will get a message that tells you it can only be viewed through YouTube.

Video content adds a ton to interaction, time on site, and

. In my research of industries, video content is worth exponentially more than
and audio, combined. The valuation for
that are into video is enormous.

Leo is entering this. Here is a way we can be more like traditional social media platforms with video content embedded into our threads.

One thing we might need to do is to play with the width and length settings so things appear properly on mobile. This is something the community can toy with and pass around.

Either way, this is a big step forward in my opinion. Video is something that we want need posted on here, even if embedded from other sites.
