Yes, I did it! I put a seed tray out in the butterfly garden in the snow. This was a thought I had while going through the perennial seeds I had to use. This will be an interesting experiment as I have never done seeds in this manner before.

I decided to use up the half-used packs of seeds from the Delphinium, Apricot Foxglove, Star Columbine, Green Twister Coneflower, Pink Dianthus, and some old Calendula.

I stood wondering how to protect them from being disturbed by the birds and critters. Then I had the idea to put a web tray on top which would still allow the snow to moisten the soil.

All it needed was a few twist ties to hold the tray on and out in the garden it went. What do you think? Will it work or not? We have gotten another 6" of snow so it is completely covered now. My thoughts are perennials are self-sowing so this may just work. At least this will keep them organized and I can put them where I need to fill in with flowers.

My last order of seeds came in the mail in the cutest envelope from Baker Creek.

I have never grown Radicchio before so this will be a nice addition to my salad mix. I am looking forward to having lemongrass again. I had it a few years back and missed having it for tea.

These will be nice flowers to add to the butterfly gardens. I chose the Agastache and tubular Cosmos for all the hummingbirds. I haven't grown stocks in probably over 10 years, so this will be fun to put near the porch to enjoy the fabulous fragrance.

I did finish organizing the seeds and made a list of start dates so I don't miss anyone. I made a previous post called "Charts, Organizing, and Purging Seeds." You can see the results there if you need to do some of your own organizing. I know I really feel satisfied to be able to see exactly what I have on hand.

That's it for today, I have seed trays to fill for lettuce, Bok Choy, Spinach, and a few greens. I want them a decent size before they go into the hydroponics next month. Happy gardening!
