The past few days have been a bit taxing on my brain. I finally took the plunge and dumped all my bags of seeds onto the dining room table to sort and purge. Pam over @goldenoakfarm has been doing the same at her homestead. I think I had some serious envy vibes working because it kicked me in the pants to take care of my seed chaos.

When you have notebooks of all sizes piled from years of note-taking and different seed starting tables, you just have to get #organized once and for all.

I had all my seeds organized by seeding date before my last frost date. But, as you can imagine they tended to get mixed up over the years and it would drive me crazy trying to find a variety somewhere in all those bags. The photo only shows some of the vegetables that I started with. I have a pile with just flowers too.

I sat for an entire afternoon checking dates to see if they were too old. Wow, I had a lot that I emptied into a bowl to save for the birds to eat. I ran out of little bags to put the half-used seeds into. I went to the craft store and found these photo-box cases on sale. They usually cost $42 each but were on sale for $14 so I grabbed two.

Once I finished discarding all the old seeds and saving a small handful of what I needed for this year, I packaged and labeled them all and put all the varieties of each type into one container. The white case is all flowers and herbs, and the green is just for the vegetables.

The next day, I went through the old notebooks and files in my desk drawers from years of gardening and selling plants. I had so many duplicate papers and tablets to go through. That took forever!

I had this huge binder that wasn't being used anymore so that became the organizer for all my notes.

I went to a few different sites to find the perfect charts with the starting dates I needed for Zone 6b. I liked this chart and printed it for vegetables and for flowers.

I really liked the charts that Seasonal Homestead had made. Both the spring and fall charts seem very close to my seeding and planting schedule so I printed them for the folder. They should make my life a bit easier.

Next, I printed off all my documents from the PC to add to the folder as well. I always save good information on the computer for safekeeping. Now, I have it on paper too in one binder.

I printed an informational page for each of the vegetables I grow and added them in alphabetical order. This will come in handy when I need specific info on one of them. It is hard to remember every aspect of growing for so many different plants. This will be very helpful this season.

This morning I woke up to fresh, wet snow and the sun was just beginning to come out. The yard looks so pretty all dressed in white.

Today, I will be making a quick list of what needs sowing in the next couple of weeks. Spring is fast approaching and soon gardening season will be in full swing. I'm so excited to be organized and ready to go, thank you, @goldenoakfarm for the inspiration.

Until next time, this is Sunscape
