OPM: One Punch Meow

What I like most about having new card sets in Splinterlands is discovering the potentially new powerhouse cards. I already made my first Conclave Arcana post talking about Taye Loreswift which you can check out here. Now I'll highlight another Life element monster that caught my attention, Leonin Sifu.

Card Art and Lore

There was a point in my life when I was deep into martial arts movies. And with Splinterlands' main theme revolving around knights and steampunk, Leonin Sifu stands out as a different type of fighter. And in my opinion, out of all other anthropomorphic designs, the feline form is most suitable for martial artists.
And upon a quick read of her lore, I learned that her name is actually Nyamisa and the word Leonin Sifu is the title given to the ones who practice a specific discipline, which is probably equivalent to a grandmaster.

Card Stats and Abilities

I titled this post 'One Punch Meow' because of how Leolin Sifu's abilities were structured. She is a bit slow but has huge health and armor. This to me signifies that she is meant to be in the frontline, fulfilling the role of a tank. She only has 4 melee attack points which is probably not enough to kill the opposition's tank in 'one punch' right?

The new ability, Relentless Strike, makes Sifu's attack a true damage. This means the 4 attack points will ignore any damage mitigators such as shield. And if the target does have Void, Shield, or Forcefield, which tank monsters commonly have, then the damage is increased by 1. Also, Sifu's attack cannot be avoided thanks to the True Strike.

Furthermore, if the enemy is left with two or less health, the Execute ability will kick in, delivering the finishing blow. So technically, Leonin Sifu can defeat an enemy monster with 6 health in one turn.

Finally, the strategy for Leonin Sifu relies on increasing her melee attack as much as possible. Commander Goff and Janni Rebel are good support, but due to their high mana cost, it's harder to put them all into play at once. This is where Taye Loreswift becomes a more ideal partner for Sifu due to her very low mana cost. As for archons, Elias Max Pruitt is the clear choice. Aside from the melee buff, he can also give armored strike which makes Leonin Sifu even deadlier. I can't wait to get my chance at playing with her in the higher levels and see the enemy monsters get blown away.
