My Actifit Report Card: April 25 2025

Today’s task was all about getting to the root of a parking lot light outage. Using a vacuum excavation tool, I exposed the pull box next to a concrete base—right where the wiring connections for the pole lights are buried. As soon as we accessed the box, it was clear there was standing water inside, a sign of poor drainage or infiltration over time.

The wirenuts were corroded and wires worn from years of exposure. After carefully isolating the issue, we began testing connections and prepping for new splices. Sometimes it’s not the fixture at fault—it’s the environment underground causing the failure. Another reminder that proper waterproofing and sealing make all the difference in long-term reliability.
