Introduction
This week's theme asks us to think about all the movies we've seen and choose three of them. This theme, in addition to telling us something about ourselves, or rather, the emotions we like to experience through movies, can also suggest which movies to watch to community members.

Below, let's take a closer look at my three favorite movies and why.

3rd place - Le Mans '66 - The Great Challenge

This film is about motorsports and the great battle that took place in the 1960s between the two car manufacturers Ford and Ferrari.
The film features historical figures such as Ken Miles, Carroll Shelby, and Henry Ford II. The film's central focus is the Ford GT40, a Ford sports car that defeated the dominant Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.

2nd Place - Gran Torino

1st Place - Pan's Labyrinth

I could write pages and pages about what I consider the most beautiful film ever made. I'll limit myself to a few sentences.
The film's direction is incredible, perfect throughout. For me, it's absolutely the best film by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro.
The film is set in Spain in 1944 and is a dark fairytale that intertwines reality and fantasy.
The role of Ofelia, the film's protagonist, is masterfully played by Ivana Baquero, while the Faun and the Pale Man are both played by Doug Jones, who in this film makes two characters famous with a single shot.
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 27, 2006.
Pan's Labyrinth grossed over $83 million worldwide against a budget of approximately $13.5 million, winning three Oscars: Cinematography, Makeup, and Score.
The context reflects oppression, censorship, and anti-fascist resistance, with a parallel between Mercedes' real-life struggle and the metaphor of Ofelia's rebellion in the fantasy world.
Those who see the film are constantly tossed between a fantasy world and reality, and at the end of the film, we all close our eyes in the hope that the fantasy world Ofelia experiences is real.
A film that cannot be repeated because it embodies ideas that Guillermo del Toro has developed over 20 years. A film with a very strong dramatic tone, it's not a film for everyone, but it shows the war period like no other film. The film's fantasy element is an unsurpassed touch of class, a dark fairytale with a profound social message.
The soundtrack is a lullaby that enters the brain like a woodworm. A lullaby that serves to lull the brain to sleep without burdening it with the difficulties of that period.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a film with a mix of history, drama, strong emotions, horror, and fantasy that is hard to beat.

There are films that leave a mark, those that dig deep inside us and move us to the point of never forgetting that emotion we felt. The film that most touched my soul was Pan's Labyrinth.

Il tema di questa settimana vuole che pensiamo a tutti i film che abbiamo visto e che ne scegliamo tre. Questo tema, oltre a raccontare qualcosa di noi, o meglio, le emozioni che ci piacciono provare attraverso i film, può suggerire ai componenti della comunità, quali film poter vedere.

Qui di seguito vediamo nel dettaglio quali sono i miei tre film preferiti e perché?

3° posto - Le Mans '66 - La grande sfida

Questo film parla di motorsport e della grande sfida che è avvenuta negli anni ‘60 tra le due case automobilistiche Ford e Ferrari.
Nel film appaiono personaggi storici come Ken Miles, Carroll Shelby, Henry Ford II. Il fulcro principale del film è la Ford GT40, autovettura sportiva della Ford che fu capace di sconfiggere la dominatrice Ferrari alla 24 Ore di Le Mans nel 1966.

Il film ha un ritmo impeccabile, bilancia molto bene azione, dramma e ambientazione storica degli anni '60.
Il film uscì nel 2019 ed ha avuto un ottimo successo commerciale. Per ora sembra che abbia incassato 225 milioni di dollari a fronte di una spesa di 100 milioni di dollari.

Gran Torino uscì nel 2009 e qui abbiamo una regia fenomenale e un attore protagonista che recita in maniera eccellente. Il regista di questo film è Clint Eastwood, invece l’attore è Clint Eastwood…esatto, sempre lui. Il film è ambientato negli anni 2000, con un forte senso di nostalgia per gli anni '50-'60, il film riflette un'America in trasformazione. Il film mette in luce le tensioni razziali e sociali di quartieri urbani in declino mostrando l’avvento delle nuove comunità multiculturali. Cosa che da noi in Italia sta avvenendo ora. Il film si intitola Gran Torino (autovettura prodotta dalla Ford a fine degli anni 60) perché il personaggio principale è un uomo legato a quegli anni ‘60 in cui l’America era in pieno periodo di gloria.
Un film importantissimo perché esplora temi come il razzismo e la vita di una società multiculturale.
Il film si svolge inizialmente in maniera abbastanza lenta, poi sviluppa i temi che ho citato sopra e finisce in un modo piuttosto inaspettato, dando un emozione fortissima a chi lo vede.
I messaggi che sono stati inviati durante il film, sono difficilmente dimenticabili, soprattutto quello dell’integrazione sociale.
Un capolavoro! Per me il film più bello di Clint Eastwood.

1° posto - Il labirinto del fauno

Potrei scrivere pagine e pagine di quello che io ritengo il film più bello mai stato realizzato. Mi limiterò a scrivere qualche frase.
Il film ha una regia pazzesca, perfetta per tutta la durata del film. Per me è assolutamente il miglior film del regista messicano, Guillermo del Toro.
Il film è ambientato nella Spagna del 1944 ed è una favola oscura che intreccia realtà e fantasia.
Il ruolo di Ofelia, la bambina protagonista del film è interpretato magistralmente da Ivana Baquero, mentre il Fauno e il Pale Man sono interpretati entrambi da Doug Jones che in questo film rende celebri due personaggi con un solo colpo.
Il film fu presentato in anteprima al Festival di Cannes il 27 maggio 2006.
Il Labirinto del Fauno ha incassato oltre 83 milioni di dollari in tutto il mondo contro un budget di circa 13,5 milioni, vincendo 3 Oscar: Fotografia, Trucco, Colonna Sonora.
Il contesto riflette l'oppressione, la censura e la resistenza antifascista, con un parallelo tra la lotta reale di Mercedes e la metafora della ribellione di Ofelia nel mondo fantastico.
Chi vede il film è continuamente sballottato tra un mondo fantasioso e la realtà, e alla fine del film tutti noi chiudiamo gli occhi nella speranza che il mondo fantasioso vissuto da Ofelia sia reale.
Un film che non può essere ripetuto perché racchiude idee che Guillermo del Toro ha raccolto in 20 anni. Un film che ha un tratto drammatico molto marcato, non è un film per tutti, ma mostra il periodo di guerra come nessun altro film fa. La parte fantasy del film è un tocco di classe insuperabile, una favola oscura con un profondo messaggio sociale.
La colonna sonora è una ninna nanna che entra nel cervello come un tarlo. Una ninna nanna che serve per addormentare il cervello senza fargli pesare le difficoltà di quel periodo.
Per quanto mi riguarda questo è un film con un mix di storia, drammaticità, emozioni forti, horror e fantasy, difficilmente superabile.

Conclusioni
Ci sono dei film che lasciano il segno, quelli che scavano dentro di noi e ci emozionano al tal punto di non dimenticare mai quell’emozione che abbiamo provato. Il film che più ha toccato le corde della mia anima è stato Il Labirinto Del Fauno.
