You may recognise the author name as @dragosroua is one of the Hive OGs, although he just returned after a couple of years away.

He has mentioned his running here, but this book is a fuller account of how he got into running to help cope with depression and then went on to do some massive runs. He started at a similar age to me (40s), but has done much more. My longest runs have been around 25km, but he has done some over 200km! That is obviously hard on the body and also on the mind.

I bought his book a while back, but only just read it whilst I was travelling. At 180 pages it is not too long a read as the print is large.

He talks about training and details his experience of different events with some thoughts on what he could have done better. There is a long account of running the 211km Ultrabalaton in Hungary that is gruelling enough just to read.

I found this an inspirational book even if I do not aspire to be an ultramarathoner. I have done a few half marathons and may attempt a whole one some day, but I have to see what my body can cope with.

I hope to hear more from Dragos on how his running is going, but he writes on various other topics too. Check him out.
