MLM’s are even worse than I thought/ Real World Rant

So many many years ago I met this guy who was making a lot of money in a MLM selling phone lines/internet packages.
Unlike many other MLM’s, this one’s pitch was how you basically get the customer once and they have a monthly bill, which can make more money than a Tupperware for example.
The shady thing was how it was all structured… well, like a MLM… which always looks like a triangle… lol
Anyways, this part threw me off… to “get in” you had to pay $600 to get their “package” which had all the tools you need to succeed.
Let me just point out I am not naming the company, I don’t want you to go looking for them, and I don’t want them getting mad at me shit talking them lol
Back to the story..
So like a young curious fella I had to look into this thing, I didn’t know anything about it at this point other than it’s not a job, it’s commission based basically. I was turned off about having to pay to get in but was making decent money at the time so figured I would “invest in myself”.
He was around my age, young guy, but drove around in a corvette… spoiler alert, it wasn’t from his MLM money…
He showed me some papers he got from paying the $600, the juicy stuff.. how the compensation works… the worst part was having to “recruit” 2 people to “activate” my account.. and to have some decent income they both have to be activated too, and remain active.
Very annoying but it was basically demanding you make your own crew.
So, I called up all my buddies, and invited them over to show them what this thing is all about and if they are willing to get in and we can all build our own little empire…
Well, my buddy doesn’t present the facts, the compensation structure, the way we can make the most money… no, he shows them some random ass “I was a nobody, but then I joined this company, now look at me”.
I was like wtf, wtf is this non sense? My buddies thought it was a big joke, it was, what was this presentation.
Then he brings some 25 year old in a BMW thinking we would care, I remember one of my buddies saying “isn’t that just a 3 series” when the guy thought we were some brain dead drones lol
Needless to say, this whole thing was a big flop, my buddies thought I was some idiot to fall for this crap. But thats the thing, I didn’t. I hadn’t seen anything they saw, and they didn’t see anything that I saw. But that didn’t matter.
That was the first clue that my “friends” were not the ones..
So, why all this?
From then on, they didn’t take me seriously when we would be sitting around talking about money.
Well guess what, when I told them about bitcoin years later, they scoffed at the idea of getting into something that I brought up.
At one point, the disrespect got to me…
I actually wanted to give one of my buddies 2 bitcoins for his wedding, at the time they were $300 each, $600 was all I could afford at the time, but I figured:
A) this guy doesn’t respect my financial knowledge
B) will probably lose his keys anyways
So I did not give him 2 bitcoins, I gave him $600 cash.
Even for years after that, even after bitcoin hit past $20,000… they don’t want to hear it, they didn’t know didn’t care.
Funny thing is though, crypto is everywhere… there was some lame show in the background and I even heard them talk about bitcoin. Now everyone knows at least the existence of crypto.
Well funny enough I see my buddy’s X account, he went from having a normal personal account, to 90% like, retweet, commenting on some crypto channels trying to get free bitcoin.
So, to explain the title… this guy watched a silly MLM video and that cost him financial freedom.
Think about it, bitcoin was around $200-$400 when I was telling them they should get a bag and wait for a couple of bitcoin halvenings.
I humbly believed bitcoin would be $2000 by 2020 … boy was I off by a factor of 10 lol
But they refused to look into bitcoin because once upon a time some guy I invited to show them something flopped… they didn’t say, “well, my friend says this guy flopped, lets give him a proper chance to show us whats up”.. but no, I was X’d in their minds… like wtf is that haha I guess this always bothered me. At that young age you learn how people can think so differently than you that it blows your mind.
Funny thing is I am not even confident to say they are thinking to themselves “wow he must be so rich if he got in so early”. I genuinely believe they can’t retain information. I don’t want to be mean and call them dumb but turns out they call themselves dumb and they blame concussions from sports.
Then it is so clear… brain damage… they aren’t dumb, they are just kinda broken lol makes me think about how many of these people are among us… very humbling revelation.
So imagine that, NOT getting into bitcoin that early because you are a silly goose and lose trust over something so small.
This crypto market is getting super spicy. Hive is something special to me, my outlet, my way to communicate, and engage with likeminded people. Obviously we are all not carbon copies of each other, and probably disagree about a whole lot of things.. but just being here, reading this right now, you are special for being in the crypto world. You, yes you, are someone doing something that most people cannot comprehend, thats really cool, you are really cool!
I’ll end this rant short (short really? Haha) but I can keep going but I am tired and need to plan some stuff for tomorrow.
I must say though, I am sorry for all the periods when I am talking like this…. I don’t know why I do that now, I will keep it the way it is but will work on breaking that habit.
This week want to do a nice post about a crypto coin that did around 1,000x in a month, and show off some nice silver and gold pieces some of you might not know I have :)
