Son of a gear head

It's in his blood, he as bound to tinker sooner or later.
I was over there the other day to take care of the snakes and my 19 year old was not home yet. He works full time and I was waiting for him in his room.
I remember when this was just an end table. Now it has been drawn on, sawed, soldered, glued, and burnt in electrical fires.
His latest passion is rechargeable batteries, the kind inside hover boards and electric unicycles. Our electric piano burnt up the power supply a year ago. Instead of buying a new one, he created a home-made battery pack. The piano is always on and only needs a recharges once per year. That is one way to resolve the problem.
He got home and I showed him the pictures. He knows he will be a Hive star yet again.
This child has always built things, though they used to be mostly Lego inventions and clay sculptures. I just got an idea for a way-back-machine post! (coming soon)
Now he builds things he needs, except for when he is just melting things to see what will happen. My younger one likes models - this one likes motors and electricity. My last workbench was a bit more worn out than this one but it had a lot of engine oil on it.
