Splinterlands Art Contest Week 372!

Hello friends, Alien Art and Splinterlands community, I hope you’re having a very nice day today. And yes, we return with more drawings, with more fan art. What a joy to be creating and sharing this magical universe of Splinterlands for another week. This week I want to present a fan art of a very beautiful character, an ice warrior. Throughout this blog we will get to know the lore of the character, her characteristics, while I accompany with images of the creative process of my fan art. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I did drawing and writing. Let’s begin!

Hola amigos, comunidad de Alien Art y Splinterlands, espero que estén teniendo un muy lindo día hoy, y sí, regresamos con más dibujos, con más fan art. Qué alegría estar una semana más creando y compartiendo este mágico universo de Splinterlands. Esta semana les quiero presentar un fan art de un personaje muy hermoso, una guerrera del hielo. A lo largo de este blog estaremos conociendo el lore del personaje, sus características, mientras acompaño con imágenes del proceso de creación de mi fan art. Espero que disfruten mucho este blog, como yo dibujando y escribiendo. ¡Comenzamos ya!

Well, I’ll start by showing you the final result. I tried to give it a retro Y2K style, with bright colors and effects of chromatic aberrations, noise, and textures. I really liked this result, and it’s the closest to a personal style that I have and that I’m perfecting. The entire drawing was made using Photoshop and Ibis Paint. Before diving into the process, I’d like to talk a little about the lore of this character again, one of my favorites.

Bueno, comienzo mostrándoles el resultado final. Traté de darle un estilo retro, Y2K, con colores brillantes y efectos de aberraciones cromáticas, ruidos y texturas. Me gustó mucho este resultado y es lo más cerca a un estilo propio que tengo y que estoy perfeccionando. Todo el dibujo fue realizado utilizando Photoshop e Ibis Paint. Antes del proceso me gustaría hablar un poco, nuevamente, del lore de este personaje, uno de mis favoritos.

Theorosa Nightshade is a powerful sorceress guided by the largest of Splintrales’ moons, the Black Moon of Sardak. Her power is drawn from the glow of that moon, and therefore it had to be reflected in my drawing through magical runes and lunar shine.

Theorosa Nightshade es una poderosa hechicera guiada por la más grande de las lunas de Splintrales, la Luna Negra de Sardak. Su poder es obtenido del brillo de esa luna, por lo tanto eso se tenía que ver en mi dibujo a través de runas mágicas y brillo lunar.

In the Splinterlands Wiki, we can find information about her battle with the Gorlaak Dua sisters. Although Theorosa Nightshade emerged victorious and prevented the elder sister from casting a devastating destructive spell, she was left trapped in her reduced form, devastated by the loss of her loved ones. Later, she would return without memories and with strange, erratic behavior. Her story is a blend of love, loss, and the price of power, a struggle between duty and sacrifice, making her one of the most compelling characters in the universe and leaving a mark on the tales of Beluroc.

En la Wiki de Splinterlands podemos encontrar información sobre su batalla con las hermanas Gorlaak Dua. Aunque Theorosa Nightshade resultó vencedora y evitó que la hermana mayor lanzara un devastador hechizo destructivo, quedó atrapada en su forma reducida, devastada por la pérdida de sus seres queridos. Más tarde regresaría sin recuerdos y con un comportamiento extraño y errático. Su historia en sí es una mezcla de amor, pérdida y el precio del poder, una lucha entre deber y sacrificio, convirtiéndola en uno de los personajes más interesantes del universo y dejando una huella en las historias de Beluroc.

As you can see, this strange and shapeless drawing was my initial sketch. While thinking about what to draw, I simply started making random strokes in Ibis Paint and found an idea I really liked: a kind of rectangular vignette with a close-up of our character’s face, showing her unique and unusual beauty, like the beauty of moonlight. But let’s trust the drawing process, which will improve this sketch.

Como ven, este dibujo raro y sin forma fue mi boceto inicial, y es que pensando en qué dibujar simplemente me puse a hacer trazos randoms en Ibis Paint y encontré una idea que me gustaba mucho: una especie de viñeta rectangular con un close up del rostro de nuestro personaje, demostrando su belleza única y extraña, como la belleza de la luz de la luna. Pero confiemos en el proceso de dibujo, que va a mejorar este boceto.

Now it’s time to refine the sketch. It’s still a simple sketch, but the lines we’ll use to give structure to our protagonist are already much more defined. I really like how her hair flows.

Ahora sí, a refinar el boceto. Sigue siendo un boceto simple, pero ya están mucho más definidas las líneas que usaremos para dar estructura a nuestra protagonista. Me gusta mucho cómo su cabello fluye.

With a sketch result I liked, I made my definitive lines. I’ll be using a light blue color so that later it will be easier to change the look of the lines to one I like and that contrasts more, simply by placing a layer mask over my lines.

Ya con un resultado que me gustó del boceto, hice mis líneas definitivas. Estaré usando un color azul claro para después más fácilmente poder cambiar el aspecto de las líneas por uno que me guste y contraste más, simplemente colocando una máscara de capa sobre mis líneas.

Since I’m working in a very organized way with layers, I simply deactivate my sketch line and already have my final lines ready to add color. On this occasion, I’ll be applying color in a different way than I usually do.

Como estoy trabajando muy organizado por capas, simplemente desactivo mi línea de bocetos y ya tengo mis líneas finales listas para dar color. En esta ocasión estaré dando color de una forma distinta a como lo hago normalmente.

On this occasion I’ll be coloring in a different way. I’ll do it on a black canvas by inverting the color of the layer. Then I’ll paint each part over the black and lower opacities to create shadowed areas.

En esta ocasión haré el coloreado de una forma distinta. Lo haré sobre un lienzo negro invirtiendo el color de la capa. Después colorearé encima del negro cada parte y bajaré opacidades para lograr zonas de sombras.

This is how the base coloring of the character turned out, without the background which I’ll leave for last. From here, using layer blending methods and opacities, I’ll be adding volumes and details. I want her gaze and her hair to be the protagonists of this drawing.

Así quedó el coloreado base del personaje sin el fondo, que dejaré para último. Ahora, a partir de los métodos de fusión de capa y las opacidades, estaré dando volúmenes y detalles. Quiero que su mirada y su cabello sean los protagonistas de este dibujo.

This is how my character’s hair turned out. I used an effect called Moiré, which gives that characteristic shine even though it’s white.

Así quedó el cabello de mi personaje. Utilicé un efecto llamado Moiré que da ese brillo característico a pesar de ser de color blanco.

I also created some volumes on the face using shadows.

Creé algunos volúmenes en el rostro con sombras también.

Some final details were to add lights and sparkles to the gaze and to work on the background. I also added some effects of flares and glitter to the background and overlaid on the character.

Unos últimos detalles fueron para agregar luces y brillos a la mirada y para trabajar en el fondo. Además, agregué algunos efectos de destellos y glitter al fondo y superpuestos al personaje.
