Solo’s solar array first year report

It has been one year since I started tracking my solar stats from my solar panel arrays on my property. I was encouraged to post about each months production and was always interesting to see how they compared to others such as @steevc or @ksteem as they also make such reports about their arrays. With now a few months of data to go over I gathered it all up.



I plugged in all the numbers into a spread sheet and made a few graphs showing my trends for the year:

Total power produced for one year 15,940.9w (15 Mwh or Megawatt hours) We can see our lowest was deep into the winter time here, and our highest was October. I was not expecting the highest to be so late in the year, but seeing June being the second best productive month is something that makes sense.

Above is the load amounts for each month, meaning how much demand there was from the AC side where the service panels are. In the winter we mostly heat using water from the wood furnace which does not make much power consumption. But in the summer we run our air conditioners and that does still use quite a bit of power. So makes sense to see the higher loads during the summer.

Import tells us how much power from the grid was used, where load be the raw amount of power used import will tell you just what you "imported" from the grid. We can see during the summer time it is much higher, hoping when I bring my new solar panels online my import numbers will be much lower.

Charge tells us how much power went into the battery arrays. I have two 45kw battery banks, so when the loads are low but much light is coming in most of it goes to the battery.

Discharge is the consumption of power from the batteries, usually happening at night. Or when its cloudy. This power provides supplemental energy.

Here are all five charted on a month to month basis.

Array A build:

System Size = 5.5 kWp DC
Panels = Sungoldpower Monocryalline 60 cell (12 Panels, 450 Watts each)
Mounting System = Brightmount EG4 screwed into 6x6 timbers
Wiring: 1x 8 AWG 19 strand PV direct bury wire pair
Inverters = 2x Sol-Ark 15k all-in-ones (240V)

Battery Backup = 48 3.2v EVE LF280 LiFePO4 280AH batteries
Battery Management system = Daly Smart BMS 16S 48V 500A
Battery Capacity = 45.696 kWh (840AH)

Propane Generator = Briggs and Stratton Power Protect 26kw

Array B build:

System Size = 9 kWp DC
Panels = Sungoldpower Monocrystalline 60 cell (20 Panels, 450 Watts each)
Mounting System = Brightmount EG4 screwed into 6x6 timbers
Wiring: 2x 8 AWG 19 strand PV direct bury wire pair
Inverters = Sol-Ark 15k all-in-one (240V)

Battery Backup = 48 3.2v LiFePO4 290AH batteries (unknown brand)
Battery Management system = Daly Smart BMS 16S 48V 250A
Battery Capacity = 47.328 kWh (870AH)

Propane Generator = Briggs and Stratton Power Protect 22kw
Totals combined for all arrays:
1344.4 kWh (1.34 MWh) produced for the month of May
