My other hobby that's not very well suited to the UK. Wakeboarding

I started wakeboarding about 5 years ago after some friends I snowboard with mentioned it. I was pleasantly surprised how much of the technique is transferable from one sport to the other. It's customary to high five your mates after they fall off. Or at least pretend to high five your mate and then splash water in their face.

One thing that really helps learn wakeboarding tricks is how similar a lot of the features are to snowboard freestyle features like this red bull "C box" at Box End wakepark in Bedford. Box end is one of the better wakeparks in the UK and has a campsite on site so is great if you want to have a few beers and BBQ after.

My favourite pic of me wakeboarding is this tail grab, again at Box End. It was taken by one of the photographers for Aston Martin so he really knows how to get the angles to make me look better than I actually am. 🤣 This was back in 2019, one of the dryist summers I've seen in the UK. You can see all the trees are parched in the background.

One thing that doesn't come naturally to a snowboarder is passing the cable while doing a 360, I've had many failed attempts at these but this sequence was a success. These pics were taken by a local at Rother valley wakepark (not far from Rotherham, my closest wakepark). He takes pics as a hobby and posts on facebook for the owners to retrieve if they want them. I think this is a really cool/generous idea.

I think this last pic is kind of funny, I look fat because I've got a T-shirt over my impact vest (similar to a life jacket). My friend had a clothing company called moose noodle he was trying to promote at the time. Honestly I'm not that fat. 😂
