“The Road Less Traveled!”😊
Silvertop headed out today in search of Gold!😇
“Liquid Gold my friends!”☺️
I hope you had a chance to read yesterday’s post! It was a lot of fun making our own Maple syrup, from our own Maple trees!😄
I headed up our old logging road, till it dead ended at Silvertop’s favorite trailhead!
Go straight forward, and the trail will take you up a steep climb, far above the valley below!🤗
Take a hard left, and your path will follow Keith and Lynne’s 1.9 mile long private road.
I was curious to see if Keith had started “Tapping” his Maple trees yet!😇
After about one mile, and 500 feet of elevation climb, a narrow unassuming path appears off to the right side of the gravel road…………….
Years ago this trail was well marked with a sign post stating “Floor Trail”!😊
That trail marker is long gone, but if you are a “Local” you know this trail very well!😇
This trail is one of several that will take you up into some of the most remote sections of Sumas Mountain, and Canada!😺
If you are adventurous, continue onward, just make sure what side of the Border you are hiking on my friends Lol!😇😳
Ohhh…… Keith has been busy!
Take a look at photos five and six!🤗
All it takes is a 1/4 inch drill bit, and a store bought metal “Tap” hammered into the Maple tree about four feet from the ground!
I looked closely, and his containers are filling up quickly with crystal clear sap!🤗
With rain, and warm weather headed our way, I am not sure how well this maple syrup season will be……….🙄
Silvertop will check back later and see how the progress goes!😊
For today, I’ll just keep hiking………..
Let’s see, I think Canada is somewhere around here Lol!😇
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊
