I picked up a 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle as part of my December DCA plan. I was a little on edge when I hit the buy button. Gold prices were climbing, and the last thing I wanted was to skip my monthly purchase just because the market was getting jumpy. So I basically closed my eyes and went for it.

The price swings didn’t help my nerves either. Watching gold move up and down in real time makes you feel like you’re either a genius or about to make a mistake. I ended up paying $518.40 for the coin.

I checked today’s prices, and you can see them below. Looks like I still came out on the lucky side this time.

It is a ritual for me to transfer a newly bought coin into an Airtite capsule.

I always take a moment to look at the coin closely before sealing it. This is especially true when the coin is small, like this 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle.

You really notice the details when you hold it up to the light. The size makes every scratch or mark stand out, so I like to check it carefully.

Once I’m done inspecting it, I place it into the capsule, making sure I'm lining it up just right. Then I press the capsule shut. It makes a distinct little click that tells you the case is sealed tight. That sound always feels like the official end of the process.

I bought the one on the right for $384.50 (see below). The current market price is $549.71.

They look the same, but one is a heck more expensive! Lol!!!

I will probably buy 1/10 oz gold or smaller while the prices are high. And maybe a couple of 1/4 oz gold. That is all I can afford for precious metals.

And by the end of this year, I hope to have 12 of these gold coins. That is my goal for this year.
