This article is a review article which describes the kidney role in the homeostasis of glucose, in the normal kidney and the diabetic kidney. the kidney participates in the gluconeogenesis, glucose filtration, glucose reabsorbtion and glucose consumption. Regarding reabsorbtion, the article describes the roles of the apical cotransporters SLGT1 and SLGT2 (with sodium) together with the basolateral facilitative glucose transporters GLUT1 and GLUT2
