Istanbul L2 Days

Yesterday and today I was attending a side DevConnect event called L2Days. It was all about Layer2 EVM chains. L2s have been growing strongly during the past months, and you can group them into basically two big areas, ZK rollups and Optimistic rollups. This growth is just a sign of the EVM blockchain architecture growing and maturing. The conferences were very interesting with Vitalik from Eth Foundation and Jordi Baylina from Polygon as the most relevant ones.
Besides the conferences, which have been live-streamed and will remain on YouTube for you to watch if you are interested. It was packed of people and it was great to see many colleges around as the industry keeps growing. One of the leading sponsors was L2Beat, a newly created company that measures activity only in L2 Chains.
As you can see in the image below, the Total Locked Value keeps growing and it will probably keep doing so as we approach the expected bull run.
You can find detailed info on any of the L2 Chains in terms of its security, risks, and evolution.
Most of the L2 chains had booths there and I had a chance to talk to some of them to try to evaluate the differences between them in terms of speed, cost, and security.
It is incredible to see firsthand how the whole Ethereum industry is meeting here in Istanbul, there are more than 20 different events every day and the city is taken by the crypto family.
