Navigating the Blitz Battlefield: A Quest for 2400
0 comments
Today, I tried climbing back up. In the last 3-4 weeks, I've been losing, I almost dropped to the 2099+ zone. With lichess rating system it seems pretty difficult to climb up. 3+0 blitz seems long for me that spends alot of time playing 1+0 bullet. 3+0 feels like a classical time control because I have to play very well. From 2100+ I've managed to gain over 73 Elo's today and to be honest it's been a bit stressful and I have played tough games. I even lost a game on time - A clearly winning game. Lost due to internet connections. In this post, I'd analyze one of the games I played today and update later on my progress. I feel I can get to 2400+ in blitz with determination.

I've tried to be solid all day, playing both the Indian game with both colors. With white I employ the king's Indian attack, with black I play d KID defense or pirc, depends on white transposition.
I just start with 1.Nf3 and fianchetto my bishop and castle and play. One reason why I take this approach is because I feel at this rating band I'm stronger so I dont want to enter complications or wrong lines because all I want is to increase my rating- doesn't matter if I win on board or string my opponent for as long as I can and win on time.
My idea is simple. Make sure the center can't be penetrated with c3 and expand on the kings side to create an attack. In the below position, my last move was Nf1, to start the maneuver.
As long as black castles to the king's side, I really dont focus on his expansion on the queen side, I'm just concern about building an attack
Black playing h5! Here temporary slows me down. However the Qd2 and other moves towards the king still remains the plan
g4! Moves to continue the plan and expand. At this point white plans to open black up as black pieces are on the wrong end of the board.
Black tried to rally pieces back home, but it is too late. The Indian attack is too strong here!
Black is a pawn up here, but is still totally lost. No need for white to rush. I simply improved my position. One thing to note is that. If your opponent has a bad position and little defense, try taking the defense away.
I played Kg2 and it was with the idea of taking the black rook away because once the rook is out, black position crumbles.
Black is still up a pawn but struggling. Seeing the threat. Black played Rxg5 here going an exchange down. But it didn't save the position and went on to lose. I played on time so I didn't give it the dramatic finish it deserves. You can follow the pgn move by move here.
