Prioritizing security over crime

Greetings!

One of the problems of our society most especially in this part of the world is insecurity which has rendered many homeless and vulnerable.

Although the government are telling us that they are trying their best, but to me, they've not done anything close to their best as their best would have yielded the needed and required result.

Having said this, I would like to share my view about the topic which is about, “the “vigilante. Before I proceed, I would like us all to know that when it comes to security, it's the duty of everyone to secure their lives and property including the society at large and that's why it's widely said here in my area that, “when you see something, you say something.

So, as for me, if I have the capacity to safeguard my community, I will surely do so. I would not in any way mind the weakness of the government or those in authority to do the needful and this is because if anything should happen to me or my property or my community as a whole, then my conscience of having the capacity but not doing the needful would be biting me hard and instead of me allowing this to happen to me, I'd rather use my influence and money to protect my community from criminal activities.

In the past, I have seen people standing up for their community when criminal elements were terrorizing the community. They used all that was within their power to fight the insecurity in their area, and at the end, they came out victorious. Although the victory was not ascribed to them alone but the whole community, but all the same their pivot roles cannot be taken for granted.

In the same vein, I have equally seen wealthy people with their money not helping their community to battle crime. They thought they could live in isolation with the dogs and other forms of security devices; they did not know that their community was the best form of security that could secure them from the crime.

So, after a while, when the community was attacked, the house of this wealthy man was the first point of call to the criminal element and this man and his security architecture could not save himself and other members of his family from being attacked, but thank God he was not killed.

What I'm trying to say here is that, it's better to use our money to protect our community through vigilante action than waiting for the government who may not be ready to secure the lives and properties of their subjects or citizens.

So, for someone like me, it would be a great opportunity to protect my people and our community with my financial capacity rather than waiting for the government who might not come a thousand years to come, to come.

In conclusion, it would be of a great disservice to my community if I have the opportunity to protect them, but I do not.
