Excellence Is The Signature That Makes You Outstanding

I observed a friend of mine who is a builder and civil engineer, he would always use the same guy for all his plumbing works each time he got a contract. Even if the contract was out of the state, instead of looking for a plumber in the state where he is going to, he would transport the same plumber even at an extra cost. So one day, I asked my friend why, and he replied that each time he gives him any job to do, he would go beyond expectations and add a touch of excellence to it. This was what set him apart and made him outstanding. This was what made him the favourite plumber for my friend. In anything you do, always try to put in your best and even go beyond it. Make excellence your watchword.

Do not just do things simply for the sake of doing them, but do them with the intention of making a masterpiece out of them. You will agree with me that this world is already full of competition. In fact, whether you believe it or not, whether you like it or not, you are part of a heavy competition in the world. One thing that will give you an edge and make you to stand out is excellence. Trust me, the same thing you are doing, a lot of others are also doing it, so you need to do something different to be rated differently. It is not about being the loudest or carrying titles, it is not also about being talented, but it is about the impression you make from what you do. You can be very talented in something, but until you have put it to work and excel in it, you will not be seen.

Putting excellence in what you do makes your work, your attitude, and even your result to carry a signature of quality. This is not about perfection, but about intentional distinction. It is about putting in your best and daring to surpass it even when no one is watching you. You need to get to a point that when they see your work, even if you are not around, they will quickly say "this is this person's work," because it carries a unique signature. Each time you are doing something, always ask yourself what impression you would create in the mind of others when they see the result of your work. This will help you to know if you are really putting a touch of excellence in what you do or you are just doing it for the sake of being busy.

More often than not, it is not about how many things you have done, but how well you have done them. That is, favouring quality over just quantity. It is how you do what you do that will determine the result of what you do - if you will get an average result, or if you will be exceptional. In business, in career, in education, and even in other aspects of life, the people who rise above the crowd are those who dared to go extra mile. You cannot do what everyone else is doing in the same way and expect exceptional result. If you want to stand out, then you have to do things differently - put excellence in what you do. Have the mindset that "if I am doing this, then I must do it excellently well."

When you commit towards excellence, you will stand out in what you do. Excellence is one thing that cannot be hidden because it speaks for itself and it speaks loud and clear. Someone may forget what you have said or the things you may have done, but they will not forget how you have done them. If you do things well, they will speak for themselves. Excellence leaves a signature that always says "someone who values quality did this." This is why you have to learn to pay attention to small details which can easily be overlooked by others. You have to know that excellence demands extensive work to be done.

The pursuit of excellence helps to build character. It trains you to develop good habits, to be disciplined, to be focused, and to be patient. It also teaches you to value the process and the methods, not just the product or the outcome. Remember that excellence is not a one-time thing, but it is a lifestyle and an adventure in continuity.
