In The Fast Lane

In the last 10 to 12 days I've probably gotten 30 to 40 hours of proper sleep.

The keyword here is "proper". I did lay around for a few extra hours; I would sleep for an hour, get up again, and then doze off once more, or at least try to. It's better not to get any sleep at all, than having to get up again and again, for various tasks, updates, and errands. I had to answer calls, queries, and messages, and be present in different locations in just a matter of a few hours. It's the busiest I've been this year. It is December after all, there's a lot of juggling to do, between both the professional and personal aspects of life.

This month, in December, we broke the record for confirming our sales, by a mile, and we have racked up the highest number of confirmed sales, period. It's not the most money we made off orders in a month, because the items aren't so expensive, compared to what we usually offer. Nonetheless, the number of confirmed sales is impressive.

And what does that mean? More sales numbers mean more work, more work means more money, I guess?

Even though we haven't taken any profits from the business yet, it all still adds up.

We started our official operations just 6 to 7 months ago, in June; since then the growth rates have been skyrocketing, month by month.

Now, it's quite common for us to either hit a plateau or a hurdle somewhere along the way. This time the hurdle is in operations. Our designer/specialist is moving back to the UK for his higher studies, and where he goes, the equipment and the whole workstation go. He is the mad scientist after all.

So, this whole shifting process is going to cost us, it's going to cost us big.

Then there's the whole process of a complete revamp which will be required. High shipping costs, A month to 2 months for delivery, and then there's the risk of damage; there are more cons than pros.

Not to act or think like a defeatist, but that's what I'm seeing at least; I'm just being real.

And at the end of the day, it's all business.

"There is no room for emotions in business."

If it isn't a lucrative source of income and isn't capable of bringing in a fair margin of profits, then why do it at all? You're better off with a job I'd say. You'd be putting up with way less risk, as you won't have much to lose, and you don't have to worry about the whole business all day; instead, you'd just focus on your sector and the set of tasks assigned to you.

You'd quite certainly be getting better sleep, wouldn't you? Surely not something like my abrupt set of experiences this month, the one I mentioned above. For which I'm now dealing with a mild fever and lethargy...
